New Morgan Wallen and 11 more things you must listen to this week
Country star Morgan Wallen -- whose odd walk-off on "Saturday Night Live" is still being discussed -- delivers a whopping 37 tracks on his fourth studio album. It's among this week's new releases.
A big mid-May week of new music releases comes with a big one (37 tracks) from Morgan Wallen, whose latest comes out alongside titles from BTSâ Jin, Maneskinâs Damiano David, Rico Nasty, Prince Royce, Robin Trower, Barenaked Ladies, Bela Fleck and more (all subject to change)...
Album of the Week: Morgan Wallen, âIâm the Problemâ (Big Loud/Republic): Size matters in country music, and Wallen certainly goes extra-large on his fourth studio album with a whopping 37 tracks -- one more than he had on its predecessor, 2023âs âOne Thing at a Time.â Its Post Malone team-up âI Ainât Cominâ Backâ is already a big hit, and the set, mostly co-written by Wallen, also features collaborations with Tate McRae, Eric Church, Hardy and Ernest.
Barenaked Ladies, âIn Flight -- Carry Onâ (Raisinâ): Ahead of its latest Last Summer On Earth tour (Aug. 1 at Blossom Music Center) the Canadian quartet strips down seven songs from its 2023 album âIn Flight,â adding different touches such as Kendel Carsonâs fiddle on âClearly Lost.â
BEATrio, âBEATrioâ (Bela Fleck Productions/Thirty Tigers): The first release from banjo virtuoso Bela Fleckâs new group project with harpist Edmar Castanedo and drummer Antonio Sanchez -- which first formed during 2025 for an extended run at New Yorkâs Blue Note jazz club.
Damiano David, âFunny Little Farsâ (Sony Music Italy/Arista): The frontman from Italyâs Maneskin takes a solo shot that explores sonic terrain beyond the bandâs glam-tinged hard rock.
Flock of Moons, âIn the Wake of the Trembling Handâ (Jib Machine): The Akron power trioâs sophomore album was made at the historic SUMA Recording studio in Painesville, site of other projects for the James Gang, Allman Brothers Band, Grand Funk Railroad and many more.
Jin, âEchoâ (Bighit Music): The member of South Koreaâs globe-conquering BTS drops his second solo album just six months after its predecessor, which will likely make fans âHappy.â
Linkin Park, âFrom Zero (Deluxe Edition)â (Warner): The heavy rock troupe expands its 2024 comeback album with three new songs and five live tracks, in time for a full-scale world tour thatâs just under way.
Rico Nasty, âLethalâ (Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic): The Maryland rapperâs third album continues her raging, rocking ways on 15 new tracks that blend her rhymes with heavy duty guitars for muscular synthesis.
Prince Royce, âEternoâ (Sony Music Latin): On his eighth album, the Dominican-American singer and actor delivers bachata versions of classic pop tracks --the Bee Geesâ âHow Deep Is Your Love,â for instance, as the albumâs first single.
Robin Trower, âCome and Find Meâ (Provogue/Artone Label Group): Two weeks shy of his 80th birthday, Trower still plays like the kid who started his solo career 52 years ago, injecting a few more R&B flavors this time out with, of course, some epic guitar showpieces.
Tune-Yards, âBetter Dreamingâ (4AD): The arty, idiosyncratic duo from Connecticut rolls out album No. 6, still exploring World Music styles and infectious beats -- a blend that feeds the ears as well as the feet.
Various Artists, âChet Baker Re:Imaginedâ (Blue Note): Exactly what the title says, as contemporary artists such as mxmtoom, Matilda Mann, dodie, Sara Kang and more take on the late trumpeterâs material to commemorate the 70th anniversary of his seminal âChet Baker Singsâ album.
