“SNL” returned to the air for the finale of its historic 50th season on Saturday, May 17, with Scarlett Johansson serving as host alongside musical guest Bad Bunny.
Both Johansson and Bad Bunny are “SNL” veterans, with Johansson returning as host for the seventh time and Bad Bunny making his third appearance as musical guest. Both of them were also part of the select group of celebrities who participated in the “SNL50” anniversary special, so it’s safe to say that they’ve reached favored status with Lorne Michaels.
Bad Bunny was a game participant, appearing in two of the first three sketches of the night. Also making another appearance was former cast member Mike Myers, this time playing himself stuck in an elevator with Kanye West (Kenan Thompson).

Johansson’s presence meant that we had another opportunity to watch her live reaction to husband Colin Jost being forced to read Michael Che’s jokes in the “Weekend Update” duo’s recurring joke swap bit. Che even apologized for his particularly graphic joke from the last joke swap back in December 2024.
There have been (totally unsubstantiated) rumors that Jost and/or Che could be moving on after Season 50. Che has joked that he’s leaving “SNL” in his standup sets almost every year since he was hired — I watched him say it live at Boston Calling in 2019 — but after using the same joke again during a February standup set, the rumor mill kicked back into gear.

Che did offer a heartfelt testament to Jost at the end of “Weekend Update” that had an air of finality to it, but there were no tearful tributes at the end of the show for any current cast members. Nevertheless, the rumors will likely continue throughout the summer.
Check out the videos below to see highlights from the Season 50 finale of “SNL,” including Johansson’s opening monologue, a pair of musical performances from Bad Bunny, and all of the guests visiting the “Weekend Update” desk.
