British Soap Awards after party 'bomb scare' with celebs forced to flee venue
The British Soap Awards after party was reportedly evacuated in the early hours of Sunday morning after a bomb threat
The British Soap Awards afterparty was abruptly halted on Saturday night (May 31) when celebrities were ushered out of Hackney Town Hall in London due to an alleged bomb threat.
The glitzy event, which followed the awards ceremony hosted by Jane McDonald, Sir David Jason, and Larry Lamb, was thrown into chaos.
‌
An insider exclusively revealed to The Mirror that guests were suddenly instructed to exit the venue just before 1am amid reports of a bomb threat.
‌
"We all got evacuated just before 1am. No reason was given at first and security came round and told us we had to leave immediately," the source disclosed.
As attendees gathered on the street, they were informed by security about the bomb threat, leading to them being barred from re-entering and many deciding to head home.
‌
Footage obtained by The Mirror shows some of the nation's favourite soap stars, including EastEnders' Tameka Empson and ex-Hollyoaks actor Emmett J Scanlan, among those waiting outside as the evacuation unfolded.
A show insider also conveyed to The Mirror: "Owing to a security alert after the recording of the awards, it was necessary to evacuate the after party venue. Everyone was cleared from the building safely."
The Mirror has reached out to ITV and the Metropolitan Police for further details.

In a triumphant evening for EastEnders, the BBC series emerged victorious over Emmerdale, Coronation Street, and Hollyoaks, clinching the title of Best British Soap at last night's British Soap Awards.
The series bagged a total of eight awards, including Best Dramatic Performance for Steve McFadden and Best Single Episode for Phil Mitchell's psychosis.
‌
Hollyoaks scooped three awards, Emmerdale secured two, while Coronation Street only managed one - the Outstanding Achievement Award for David Neilson, who has portrayed Roy Cropper for 30 years.
Ahead of the ceremony, ITV, BBC and Channel 4's biggest stars graced the red carpet, with Jorgie Porter and Tina O'Brien both dazzling in identical Oh Polly dresses.

In an exclusive chat with The Mirror, EastEnders' Jacqueline Jossa revealed that filming Lauren Branning's latest storyline about her sight-impaired baby was "tough". "It has really pulled at the heartstrings, especially being a mum," she confessed.
She also addressed the speculation surrounding her on-screen father Jake Wood, who plays Max Branning, returning to the soap. She admitted: "They don't tell me anything because I am the worst at keeping secrets!".
The British Soap Awards will air on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm on Thursday 5 June.
