British Soap Awards afterparty plunged into chaos over 'security threat'
The afterparty at The British Soap Awards 2025 was reportedly cut short due to an alleged security alert.
The British Soap Awards were plunged into chaos after it was reported that a 'security threat' forced the celebrity guests to leave the after-party. The annual event, which was held at London's Hackney Town Hall, saw a glamorous red carpet followed by the awards ceremony, which was hosted by Jane MacDonald and acting legend Sir David Jason. According to The Mirror, the glitzy after-party at a different venue was cut short as guests were ordered to leave the venue around 1 a.m. due to a security alert.
A source told The Mirror: “It was total panic. Security rushed around and told everyone to get out immediately. At first, they didn’t say why, but soon we were told there was a bomb threat. Everyone was left standing outside, confused and shocked.”

An ITV spokesperson said to Express Online, “Owing to a security alert after the recording of the awards, it was necessary to evacuate the after-party venue. Everyone was cleared from the building safely.”
Filming of The British Soap Awards was reportedly in a different venue and had finished filming a few hours before the security alert. A call, which was deemed a security threat, was made in the early hours to the after-party venue.
The security team ensured swift protocols were followed and everyone was evacuated safely while the threat was investigated.
Footage acquired by The Mirror reportedly showed some of television's top TV celebrities, including Tameka Empson from EastEnders and Emmett J Scanlan from Hollyoaks, among the crowd vacating the venue.
During the awards night, EastEnders emerged victorious over its rival soaps and secured eight wins, including Best Dramatic Performance for Steve McFadden and Best Single Episode for Phil Mitchell's psychosis.
Anita Dobson's return as Angie Watts also bagged the Scene of the Year Award. The 75-year-old actress reprised her role as Angie Watts for the BBC soap's 40th anniversary earlier this year and has detailed the extreme lengths she went to keep her appearance, which only her husband Sir Brian May and her agent knew about, under wraps.
Asked if she had told her Queen guitarist spouse about her Albert Square return, Anita told the Metro newspaper's 60 Seconds column: "I did tell him and, of course, my lovely agent knew.
"But I kept that secret really well. We filmed it just before Christmas, and it didn't come out until February, so it was a long time to hold on to it."
