Bruce Springsteen Is Finally Going Country With His Long Lost 'Somewhere North of Nashville' Album
Once recording a country album, Bruce Springsteen revealed he was releasing the lost album "Somewhere North of Nashville" this summer.

Exploring rock music over the last few decades, Bruce Springsteen gained the nickname âThe Bossâ thanks to hit songs like âMy Hometownâ, âBorn in the U.S.A.â and âDancing in the Dark.â Just a small sample of the hit songs produced by Springsteen, the legendary singer never seemed to explore other genres. At least, thatâs what it seemed. Apparently, Springsteen once recorded a country album that never saw the light of day. That was until now. Expected to release Somewhere North of Nashville, the hitmaker revealed how the album came about while working on The Ghost of Tom Joad.Â
Back in 1995, Springsteen worked on the final touches of The Ghost of Tom Joad. But at the same time, he also dabbled in country music. Not discussing the somewhat secret project, the album appeared to be lost to time. But now, thanks to his upcoming collection Tracks II: The Lost Albums, fans will get a taste of Springsteenâs country talent.Â
Releasing a statement about Somewhere North of Nashville, Springsteen explained, âWhat happened was I wrote all these country songs at the same time I wrote The Ghost of Tom Joad. Those sessions completely overlap each other. Iâm singing âRepo Manâ in the afternoon and âThe Lineâ at night. So the country record got made right along with The Ghost of Tom Joad.â

With Springsteen inspired by the streets of Philadelphia, he admitted that he often focused on songs surrounding âtopical songwriting.â But during that process, he insisted, âI had this country streak that was also running through those sessions and I ended up making a country record on the side.â
