Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark opened up about her offseason preparations and reflections on her rookie year as her sophomore season in the WNBA gets underway.
After being a catalyst for the WNBA's massive growth in attendance and viewership during her Rookie of the Year campaign, Clark spent much of the offseason working on her frame and enjoying some time away from basketball.

In an interview with USA Today, the Indiana Fever star shared that getting through her rookie season "was the best thing" for her.
"You understand how the league works, you know what to expect," Clark said. "But at the same time, year 2 is still gonna be for me from the standpoint of I got a lot of new teammates, I have a new coach. So being able to figure them out, how they operate, how they do things will be really important for our whole group."
During the offseason, Indiana made key free-agent acquisitions in Natasha Howard, DeWanna Bonner, Sydney Colson and Brianna Turner. They also traded for Sophie Cunningham and Jaelyn Brown.
Given their roster modifications, Clark said she thought their newfound depth is their biggest strength this season.

"Looking across the league, as you prepare for the types of teams that have the depth that we do, it makes it very difficult," she said. "It makes it difficult from a defensive standpoint. The amount of different things that teams can do ... If somebody doesn't have it one night, you just go to the next person on the bench. We're gonna have to find a way to use that to the best of our ability."
With her rapid rise to stardom, Clark's celebrity has led her to form friendships with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Clark attended Swift's Eras Tour concerts in Indianapolis last year, where she met Kelce, and in January, Clark, a lifelong Chiefs fan, joined Swift in a suite to watch Kansas City take on the Texans in the playoffs.
When asked if the power couple would be attending one of her games this season, Clark said, "I hope so."
"They're on a nice vacation mode so I hope they enjoy a nice little break out of the spotlight," she said. "But I'm sure they'll be cheering for the Fever either way."

So far this season, Clark scored 20 and 27 points, respectively, in Indiana's first two games. The Fever defeated the Chicago Sky in their first game and lost to the Atlanta Dream three days later. They take on the Dream again Thursday night.
Last year, Clark led the Fever to their first playoff appearance in eight years before falling to the Connecticut Sun in the first round.
