Chappell Roan made a surprise appearance during Charli XCX’s headline set at Primavera Sound in Barcelona on Thursday night, performing the viral TikTok dance to Apple, leaving fans pleading for a collaboration.
The moment came midway through Charli’s high-energy, hit-packed 31-song set, part of a co-headline show with Troye Sivan that opened the Spanish festival at Parc del Fòrum,
In keeping with tradition from her Brat tour, Charli handed the spotlight to a fan or famous friend to perform the instantly recognisable Apple dance — and this time, it was fellow pop disruptor and Primavera headliner Roan who stepped up.
Wearing sunglasses and a mischievous grin, Roan nailed the choreography to cheers from the crowd, just two days before she’s set to headline her own night of the festival on Saturday.
The cameo sent fans into overdrive on social media, with many calling for a full-blown collaboration between the two artists.
“Chappell x Charli collab needed ASAP,” one fan wrote on TikTok.
“We need the collab yesterday,” another said, while a third added: “We needed Chappell on the Apple remix!”
While many are calling for the pair to work together, others were thrilled by Roan’s surprise cameo.
“Oh she tore it girl central,” one fan wrote in response on X/Twitter, while someone else shared: “She got the beat DOWN”.
She’s not the only star to try their hand at the viral Apple routine. Last summer, Charli shared a compilation of performances from Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos — revealing that the track almost didn’t make it onto Brat at all.
Since then, everyone from BLACKPINK’s Rosé to Dave Grohl, Joe Jonas, Stephen Colbert and Charli’s fiancé, The 1975’s George Daniel, have joined in on the trend.
Charli XCX and Roan’s viral onstage moment wasn’t the first time the two stars have been in sync.
Earlier this year, Charli publicly backed Roan’s call to support artists facing healthcare challenges — a campaign sparked by Roan’s emotional speech at the 2025 Grammys, where she criticised labels for failing to provide healthcare or livable wages to artists.

During the speech, Roan reflected on her own experience after being dropped by Atlantic Records in 2020: “If my label would have prioritised artists’ health, I could have been provided care by a company I was giving everything to.”
Days later, Charli took to Instagram to announce she would be matching Roan’s $25,000 donation to support artists struggling to afford healthcare.
“Hey @chappellroan I am going to match your 25k to support artists’ access to healthcare. I saw @noahkahanmusic say that he would do the same and so I thought I’d follow suit,” she wrote, calling Roan’s speech “inspiring and thoughtful and from a genuine place of care. Happy to help get the ball rolling too. Money where mouth is xx.”
The conversation sparked wider debate across the industry.
After music executive Jeff Rabhan publicly criticised Roan’s remarks as “wildly misinformed,” Roan clapped back on Instagram, challenging him to match her donation. “Mr. Rabhan, I love how in the article you said ‘put your money where your mouth is,’” she wrote. “Genius!!! Let’s link and build together and see if you can do the same.”
