Chris Brown appears Manchester Magistrates' Court over alleged nightclub attack
It follows an alleged assault in London
R&B star Chris Brown is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court this morning over an alleged attack in a London nightclub.
The 36-year-old rapper, a former partner of Rihanna, was arrested at Salford's five star Lowry Hotel at 2am on Thursday. He had flown into the UK to play 10 dates as part of his Breezy Bowl XX European tour.
Greater Manchester Police officers arrested Brown on behalf of the Metropolitan Police, following an alleged assault in London more than two years ago. He has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, in connection with an incident at a venue in Hannover Square on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
In a statement issued overnight, a Met Police spokesperson said: "A man has been charged following an investigation by detectives in the Metropolitan Police Service. Chris Brown, 36, who is a US National, was charged on Thursday, May 15 with grievous bodily harm with intent.
"He remains in custody and will appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court at 10am on Friday, May 16. The charge relates to an assault, which reportedly took place at a venue in Hanover Square in London, on Sunday, February 19 2023."
A GMP spokesperson said on Thursday: "This morning (Thursday) we arrested a 36-year-old man at a hotel in Manchester on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on behalf of the Metropolitan Police."
