Singer Chris Brown has been officially denied bail after being charged with grievous bodily harm with intent in Manchester on May 16th, the Metropolitan Police have revealed.
He is accused of attacking music producer Abraham Diaw with a bottle at the Tape nightclub in central London. The alleged incident took place on February 19th, 2023.
In a hearing in Manchester Magistratesâ Court, prosecutor Hannah Nicholls said Brown had committed âan unprovoked attack with a weapon in a nightclub full of peopleâ.
The alleged attack the singer has been charged with was made against music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub. The court documents of the attack alleged he suffered âsevere and lasting injuriesâ after being beaten âover the head.â
She told the court that Brown had struck Mr Diaw with a bottle several times. The R&B singer then allegedly chased the victim. He proceeded to punch and kick him, which was all caught on CCTV.
Earlier on May 15th, the âYeah Yeah Yeahâ singer was arrested at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester at 2am, after arriving in the city on a private jet earlier the day before. He remains in police custody and is due to appear before Manchester Magistrates Court on May 16th.
According to Sky News, Brown arrived at the dock flanked by court officials. His hair was bleached blond, and he wore sweatpants and a black T-shirt.
Brown will next appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing in the capital on June 13th after a bail application was denied. This means Brown will miss at least some dates on his upcoming European tour, which was set to begin on June 8th in Amsterdam.
He was then scheduled to go on to play two nights at Manchesterâs Co-Op Live arena on June 15th and 16th, and return to the huge stadium on June 24th and July 3rd.
Brown is also still set to play the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Londonâs Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Glasgowâs Hampden Park and Birminghamâs Villa Park.
Brown is yet to comment on his arrest.
