The inaugural expanded summer Club World Cup is officially now underway as 32 teams face off across four weeks in the USA.
Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami kicked off the tournament against Al Ahly of Egypt in an entertaining goalless draw on Saturday night, before Bayern Munich scored 10 past part-timers Auckland City and Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain ruthlessly dispatched Atletico Madrid.
Attentions now turn to the likes of Chelsea, who kick off on Monday night against Los Angeles FC in Atlanta, while summer signing Estevao Willian was in action during a stalemate between Palmeiras and Porto.
Many of the participating clubs have made big signings ahead of the tournament as they battle for the trophy and remarkable prize money on offer, which could reach £100milion for the winner. The final takes place in New Jersey on July 13.
