Doctor Who two-part season finale cast, what's it about and when it's on TV
It's set to be two of the biggest Doctor Who episodes of the year
The Doctor Who two-part finale is kicking off this weekend, but who’s in it, what’s it about and when can you watch it in the UK.
It’s been a frantic season for Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor, with the Scottish actor’s second season in the Tardis seeing him visit the Time Hotel and battle an evil cartoon villain.
‌
This year has seen the Doctor joined by his new companion Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu, with Millie Gibson’s Ruby Sunday only appearing in a handful of episodes.
‌
Viewers were left stunned last week when the BBC sci-fi series dropped two major twists at the Interstellar Song Contest.
For starters, a hologram of Graham Norton revealed that the Earth ended on May 24, 2025, the day Belinda left the planet to travel with the Doctor.
On top of this, a post credits sequence finally lifted the lid on who Anita Dobson’s Mrs Flood is after two years of fans guessing who the mysterious old lady was.

After suffering a ‘double brainstem freeze’ in the episode, Mrs Flood began to bi-generate into fellow Time Lord Rani, meaning that she was indeed a villain the entire time.
Splitting into two bodies, with the second played by Archie Panjabi, the new character is an old villain who has not been seen since 1993.
‌
Originally played by the late Kate O'Mara, The Rani is an amoral biochemist who experiments on humans and other species and is one of the Doctor’s biggest enemies.
Many details about the two-part finale are being kept under wraps, with the first part titled Wish World and expected to see the Doctor trying to get Belinda home.
The second part is called Reality World, in what the BBC have called one of the Doctor’s ‘most terrifying and monumental battles to date’.
‌
Russell T Davies, Doctor Who’s Showrunner said: "The Doctor is doomed, Belinda is lost, Ruby is trapped, UNIT is powerless, the Unholy Trinity rule supreme and the Underverse is rising.
“And now we can all experience this devastating climax together, all at the same time, with a unique worldwide premiere. I can promise shocks, scares and revelations off the scale. Come and have fun!"
It remains to be seen what chaos both versions of Mrs Flood will bring, but as Rose Tyler fans know, Doctor Who isn’t afraid to end on a heartbreaking note.
‌
Those who want to wish Wish World in the traditional TV format, can tune in to BBC One at 6.50pm on Saturday night (May 24).
With the episode releasing on Disney+ in America and around the world prior to this, it may be easier to watch it on the iPlayer from 8am.
Reality War airs on Saturday, May 31, again airing at the earlier time of 6.50pm on BBC One. However, this one is going to be a big episode and spoilers will be afoot on social media.

The finale clocks in at one hour, six minutes, over twenty minutes longer than a standard episode of the series. In total, the final two episodes will be one hour and fifty minutes long.
Additionally cinemas around the UK are airing Wish World and Reality War back to back on the day of the 15th season's finale.
