EastEnders fans call for major change ahead of return to be 'made permanent'
The programme has been dropping hints that a former character will be making their comeback
EastEnders fans are calling for a major change to the BBC soap to be âmade permanentâ ahead of a mystery return.
A number of clues were posted in a series of videos on the BBC soapâs social media channels over the weekend.
â
Teasing that a former character will be back in Walford, each of the short videos were filmed from a characterâs POV as they explored Albert Square.
â
From exiting a tube station to staring at the Minute Mart, the sound of high heels that could be heard across the videos has indicated that itâs a woman who will be back.
The majority of viewers are convinced that Michelle Ryanâs Zoe Slater is making her comeback after 20 years away from the programme.
Last seen in 2005, the 41-year-old actress is best known for discovering that Kat Slater was not her sister and actually her mum.

Mondayâs (June 16) episode marks a new era for the show, with Ben Wadey beginning his tenure as Executive Producer following Chris Clenshawâs exit.
Chrisâ final episode on Friday (June 13) saw Kat and Alfie Moon get married for the third time in front of their family and friends.
â
Keen to make an impression early on, Benâs first episode will simulcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7.30pm.
Teasing what to expect, he said: âNext week marks the start of something big in Walford that we hope will get everyone talking, and itâs only just the beginning.
âWeâve got twists, shocks, and plenty of drama lined up for a summer you donât want to miss.â
â
With EastEnders usually releasing early at 6am on the iPlayer, no spoilers will be available ahead of the return that has everyone talking.
A number of fans took to X, previously known as Twitter, to call on EastEnders to get rid of the iPlayer release going forward, with many unable to watch it until its 7.30pm broadcast on BBC One.
@AndyGibsonTV said: âI'm glad there's no iPlayer drop at 6AM. Hope that will continue going forward.â @Trix62971577639 added: âAt least, no one spoils the episode before 7:30am time. Make it permanent.â
