Halle Berry leaves little to the imagination on the blue carpet at the 2025 Met Gala. The 58-year-old actress turned heads with her stunning ensemble after a seven-year hiatus at the iconic fashion event.
Berry posed for the cameras on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a revealing dress by LaQuan Smith. The body-hugging scoop-necked gown featured sheer mesh fabric and Japanese bugle bead-embroidered panels.
Berry topped the look with a cropped tuxedo jacket, which she took off on the carpet. She also accessorized with a matching black net veil and strappy heels.
Speaking with PEOPLE, Smith explained that he’s always been inspired by the essence of the Harlem Renaissance and jazz era.
For me, sharp tailoring and an exaggerated shoulder is what I’ve always been incorporating in my collections. I love the ’80s as well, and the fearlessness of Josephine Baker, so I think that you’re going to be able to get some of the essence of all of those notes through the design.

The “Never Let Go” star also wore the exquisite Cartier Tsagaan snow leopard necklace, a masterpiece adorned with over 31 carats of diamonds. She paired it with matching earrings, boasting 3.96 carats of diamonds and 0.4 carats of onyx.
According to Vogue, the stunning jewelry took at least 1,400 hours to craft. Berry was the first person to ever wear the Cartier Tsagaan set.
Smith described styling Berry at the 2025 Met Gala as a full-circle moment, adding:
As a Black designer, dressing someone who’s broken so many barriers and continues to lead with grace means everything.

Smith added:
She pushed for certain cuts that enhanced her movement, and we played with sheer panels to strike that perfect balance between elegance and edge. Her input was always intentional, always rooted in how she wanted to feel in the piece – not just how it looked.
The 2025 Met Gala’s theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” This year’s event committee includes Simone Biles, her husband, Jonathan Owens, Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Usher, and Angel Reese.
