Is The Devil Wears Prada finally getting a sequel? As per reports, the sequel to the iconic film is on the cards. Nearly two decades after the fashion film hit theaters, a second movie is officially in development. Fans are eager to see if the original cast will return. So will Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway reprise their roles?

It starred Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Emily Blunt as Emily, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel. The film went on to become a cult favorite amongst fans for its sharp fashion world satire and notable performances.

Talks about a sequel have been floating around for years. But in July 2024, Puck News reported that the sequel is officially in development. Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the screenplay for the original, is back on board. According to Deadline, producer Wendy Finerman and director David Frankel are also in talks to return.

But reports suggest the story will focus on Miranda Priestly as she navigates the modern media world — and crosses paths with Blunt’s character, who’s now a top executive holding the ad dollars Priestly needs.
In February 2024, fans were thrilled when Streep, Hathaway, and Blunt reunited at the SAG Awards. Still, the stars have shared mixed views on a sequel:

Anne spoke to Extra in April 2024 that she “wouldn’t hold out too much hope.” Earlier that year, she told E! News she didn’t think a continuation was likely.

Several sources have reported that The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to release in theaters on May 1, 2026.
As per a report in Variety, the much-awaited sequel will focus on Miranda Priestly facing a career crisis as traditional magazines lose power and technology takes over. Meanwhile, Blunt’s character is now a powerful player in luxury advertising— setting the stage for a showdown between the two.
