Katie Price explains reason behind Peter Andre split and it 'wasn't mutual'

Katie Price has opened up about the downfall of her marriage with Peter Andre. The pair captured hearts on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004 as viewers watched them fall in love on TV.
After their jungle romance, they quickly became engaged in secret by May that year,marrying in September 2005. They later welcomed children Junior and Princess into the world. However, the fast-paced relationship eventually unravelled, leading to their divorce in 2009.
Speaking to Paul Brunson on his podcast We Need To Talk, Katie shared the pivotal reason behind the sudden split. She explained that Peter had suspected her of having an affair with her dressage rider, a claim she vehemently denied during her conversation with the Celebs Go Dating expert, saying: "I've never slept with him."
Katie defended herself, saying: "I just kept my horse there, and I was happy keeping my horse there, and he was married. But when me and Pete split, because he used to keep saying, that's it. I've had enough. I've had enough. It got to a point where I went well f**king divorce me. And I remember the day, because then I flew to the Maldives with the kids."
The pair split after four years of marriage (Image: ITV)She added: "That day, I'm at the airport, it's all on Sky News, it wasn't mutual at all. And then I redone a statement saying I don't want to split with Pete, it's Pete that's splitting with me. Until this day, me and Pete have never sat down and spoken about it."
Peter Andre was left heartbroken after Katie Price took their children back to the Maldives villa where they'd spent their 2005 honeymoon, following their split. "Being apart from my kids is just breaking my heart," he told the Daily Star at the time. "It's destroying me - I'm absolutely gutted."
Katie, while chatting with Paul, revealed that their co-parenting arrangement is managed through lawyers. "I've never sat down with him, we probably would've sorted it out but we were kept apart," she said.
She described the difficulty of co-parenting with Peter AndreThe former glamour model described co-parenting as 'the most difficult thing'. "But I realised you get to know what people are really like, and I've had it tough. But yeah, it is sad," she added.
Before their separation, both Katie and Peter were open about their jealous spats, often aired on their reality TV show, yet fans were surprised when these issues led to their break up.
Katie has also expressed that the split wasn't her choice. "Pete is the love of my life and my life. We have children together, and I am devastated and disappointed by his decision to separate and divorce me as I married him for life," she at the time
"This is not what I want, and the decision has been taken out of my hands. I will not comment further or do any interviews regarding the separation, but I will always love my Pete."
