Amid the ongoing public feud between Bruce Springsteen and Donald Trump, American musician Kid Rock has added fuel to the fire by speaking in support of the President.
The feud began when the Born in the USA singer used the opening night of his European tour in Manchester on May 14th to lambast Trump. He said to the crowd: “In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, and has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.”
In response, Trump responded with his own rant: “I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States. Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK.”
The politician then seemingly threatened Springsteen, adding, “This dried out “prune” of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just “standard fare.” Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”
Now, Kid Rock has weighed in. Appearing on FOX & Friends on Friday, he accused Springsteen, 75, of trying to cosy up to the “Hollywood elite” with his tirade. “Just another person with TDS [Trump derangement syndrome] at the highest levels,” Rock told Steve Doocy.
He continued: “To be in Europe talking junk about our president who gets up and works his ass off for this country, every day, and his administration is doing such great things… Thank God for him. But to do that in Europe… what a punk move.”
He concluded of the matter: “This guy’s got, what, 500 million, a billion dollars… and is out there playing like he’s a working-class hero,” he added of Springsteen. “And really, to me, just wants to be… in good standings with the Hollywood elite… and I’m proud to say that I’m more of Hollywood’s kryptonite.”
Following Trump’s retaliation, the US Musicians Union spoke out in solidarity with Springsteen and Taylor Swift, who Trump also attacked in a post on his social media platform Truth Social. “Musicians have the right to freedom of expression, and we stand in solidarity with all our members,” the Union wrote.
Kid Rock is a vocal supporter of Trumps. The pair have collaborated on an executive order clamping down on ticket touting, which the White House described as as a response to “exploitative ticket scalping.” It encourages the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice to “rigorously enforce” the laws which are already in place rather than introducing a new set of legal restrictions on the ticketing industry.
