El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, hablará por teléfono el lunes con el presidente de Rusia, Vladimir Putin, sobre el fin de la guerra en Ucrania, según anunció el mandatario estadounidense.
“Los temas de la llamada serán: detener el ‘baño de sangre’ que está matando, en promedio, a más de 5.000 soldados rusos y ucranianos a la semana, y el comercio”, escribió Trump en Truth Social este sábado.
El anuncio se produce después de que representantes de Ucrania y Rusia mantuvieran conversaciones cara a cara en Turquía el viernes. Fue la primera vez que los dos países mantuvieron conversaciones directas en tres años.
Trump dijo que no creía que vaya a haber un avance significativo en las conversaciones de paz hasta que Putin y él hablen de forma directa.
“No creo que vaya a ocurrir nada, les guste o no, hasta que él y yo nos reunamos”, dijo Trump a periodistas antes esta semana.
Trump dice que planea hablar con el presidente de Ucrania, Volodymyr Zelensky, y con varios miembros de la OTAN después de conversar con Putin.
“Esperamos que sea un día productivo, que tenga lugar un alto el fuego, y que esta guerra muy violenta, una guerra que nunca debería haber ocurrido, termine”, escribió Trump este sábado.
Ucrania, sus aliados en Europa y Estados Unidos presionaron a Moscú para que aceptara un alto el fuego de 30 días entre Rusia y Ucrania respaldado por Estados Unidos. Putin rechazó esa petición y, en su lugar, convocó conversaciones directas el pasado jueves en Turquía entre las naciones, que Trump instó firmemente a Zelensky a aceptar.
Zelensky, sin embargo, dijo que iría solo si Putin se presentaba. Los rusos enviaron una delegación que Zelensky consideró de “bajo nivel”, y Putin no se presentó a las conversaciones.
Finalmente, Ucrania también envió una delegación, lo que dio lugar a las primeras conversaciones entre ambas naciones desde 2022, que desembocaron en un acuerdo para el intercambio de 1.000 prisioneros.
Esta semana, durante su gira por Medio Oriente, Trump había dicho a los periodistas que no esperaba que Putin se presentara a las conversaciones en Turquía si Trump no estaba allí.
“Miren, no va a pasar nada hasta que Putin y yo nos reunamos, ¿de acuerdo? Y obviamente él va a ir. Iba a ir, pero pensó que yo iba a ir. No iba a ir si yo no estaba allí”, afirmó Trump a bordo del Air Force One.
Este sábado, el secretario de Estado de EE.UU., Marco Rubio, también habló con el ministro de Asuntos Exteriores de Rusia, Sergey Lavrov, subrayando el compromiso de Estados Unidos para poner fin al conflicto, según la portavoz del Departamento de Estado, Tammy Bruce.
“El secretario Rubio dio la bienvenida al acuerdo de intercambio de prisioneros alcanzado durante las conversaciones entre Ucrania y Rusia del 16 de mayo en Estambul y transmitió el firme mensaje del presidente Trump: Estados Unidos está comprometido a lograr un final duradero de la guerra entre Rusia y Ucrania”, dijo Bruce en un comunicado. “El plan de paz integral propuesto por Estados Unidos esboza el mejor camino a seguir. El secretario hizo hincapié en el llamado del presidente Trump para un alto el fuego inmediato y el fin de la violencia”.
En una entrevista con Fox News el viernes, Trump dijo que está “cansado” de que otras personas negocien la guerra y subrayó cómo Putin y él necesitan reunirse.
“Él está en la mesa y quería esta reunión. Y siempre sentí que no puede haber una reunión sin mí, porque no creo que se llegue a un acuerdo”, dijo Trump. “Tenemos que reunirnos, y creo que probablemente lo programaremos, porque estoy cansado de que otras personas vayan y se reúnan y todo lo demás”.
