Let's get this out of the way first: Taylor Swift did not attend the AMAs 2025, which were held on May 26 in Las Vegas. But that doesn't mean the show was a wash!

The American Music Awards were still plenty star-studded, with performances by Janet Jackson, Gloria Estefan, Renée Rapp, Lainey Wilson, Rod Stewart, Gwen Stefani, and, of course, our host for the evening, Jennifer Lopez, who opened the show with a medley of songs from nominated artists. During the performance, Lopez also kissed a few of her back-up dancers, a stunt which garnered mixed reactions online.

Janet Jackson and Rod Stewart both received major honors during the ceremony, with Jackson picking up the icon award and Stewart taking home a lifetime achievement honor.

“I’m so grateful. I mean, no disrespect in any way, but I don’t consider myself an icon. My family, myself, our dream wasn’t ever to be famous; we weren’t raised like that," Jackson said. “We always had a special love for music, dancing and singing, and fame came with the result of hard work and dedication.”

Billie Eilish, who's currently in Europe for her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, swept the AMAs 2025, picking up seven fan-voted awards—including artist of the year. "This is so crazy. I feel speechless," the singer said in a video message broadcast during the awards. “I wish I could be there tonight.”

Other AMA winners included SZA, who appeared to skip the red carpet, Becky G, and Dan + Shay, as well as several artists who weren't present at the awards, like Kendrick Lamar, Gracie Abrams, Eminem, Post Malone, Doechii, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, and Beyoncé. Listen, they're busy people!
