The Seattle band had been scheduled to begin a run of US headline gigs at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut last night (Thursday May 8).
AdvertisementShortly before the performance was due to start, however, they announced in a statement that the date would not be going ahead. The group cited an incident involving drummer Sean Kinney.
āAfter our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency,ā the message began.
āWe unfortunately have to cancel tonightās show. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.ā
Some ticketholders had reportedly already arrived at the arena when Alice In Chains confirmed that the concert had been axed. Responding to the statement, one person wrote: āI literally pulled into the venue when fans told me.ā
RecommendedOthers asked about the status of the bandās next gigs, which are due to take place tomorrow and Sunday (May 10, 11) in New Jersey and Ohio, respectively.
Alice In Chains have not yet provided any further updates on the tour or Kinneyās health.
Following these current US dates, the group will make an appearance at Black Sabbathās last-ever live show at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5.
The stacked line-up also features the likes of Metallica,Ā Slayer,Ā Pantera,Ā Gojira,Ā Anthrax,Ā Smashing PumpkinsāĀ Billy Corgan,Ā Guns Nā Roses,Ā KoRn and Tool. Earlier this month saw AerosmithāsĀ Steven TylerĀ and the survivingĀ Soundgarden members join the bill for the historic date.
