How do I apply to go on The Traitors?
Whether you watch The Traitors for the reality game show's murder-mystery intrigue, Claudia Winkleman's outfits, or both, we've got some very exciting news for you: after much speculation, a celebrity edition is finally on its way, with a very strong lineup that puts other reality shows to shame – and it'll be hitting our small screens sooner than expected.
Celebrity Traitors: Release date
The BBC has announced that Celebrity Traitors will be a nine-part series landing sometime in the autumn of 2025. Production has kicked off, as of mid April, so we'll let you know as soon as we hear of a more specific release date. In the meantime, we've rounded up the amazing cast below.
Rest assured, we'll also have the fourth season of The Traitors, the 'normal' edition, to lookforward to in 2026. Better still, rumours have been swirling for a while now that the show has booked out Ardross Castle – its filming location – until 2030 to avoid any awkward clashes with Scottish brides hoping to get married there. In short, The Traitors is going nowhere, meaning plenty more of Claudia's top-tier winter fashion inspiration for years to come (yes, don't worry, she's already been confirmed to host the lot).
What to Read Next
Mike Cotton, Creative Director Unscripted at Studio Lambert and Executive Producer for The Traitors, said: "We are thrilled to be inviting some celebrities into our castle to come and play the game. Seeing famous faces navigate the round table or don the infamous green cloaks will be unmissable TV, and what a double treat for the fans with series four also confirmed too. There's a whole lot of exciting treachery and deception yet to come from the Highlands. Claudia's going to have to pack some extra knitwear."
Kalpna Patel-Knight, the BBC's head of entertainment, said: "The Traitors has well and truly established itself as an unmissable highlight of the year and the news of a fourth outing, alongside a brand new celebrity version coming to the BBC, will take the series to a whole new level. It will once again be fascinating for our audiences to see who'll outwit, outplay, and outlast. Let the mind games begin!"

Celebrity Traitors: Cast
The BBC has now confirmed the Celebrity Traitors lineup, and many of the big names that had been circling for a while are on there...
Journalist and broadcaster Kate Garraway has signed up, while singer Charlotte Church and chat show host Jonathan Ross are also taking part. We're delighted to see broadcaster Stephen Fry on the list, as hoped, and would love to see him play a Traitor; presumably he'd have to... he's far too clever to be a Faithful – the show wouldn't last two minutes. Fry recently told Lorraine Kelly on her daytime show that while "hell will have frozen over" before he appears on a reality show like I'm A Celebrity, he regards The Traitors "not as reality, but a game, and I do like games".
Here are all the other names filming Celebrity Traitors in Scotland right now...
Alan Carr, comedian
Tom Daley, former Olympic diver
Joe Marler, former England rugby player
Lucy Beaumont, comedian
Nick Mohammed, actor known for Ted Lasso
Clare Balding, sports broadcaster
Paloma Faith, singer
Celia Imrie, actor known for Bridget Jones' Diary
David Olusoga, historian and Bafta-winning filmmaker
Mark Bonnar, actor known for Line of Duty
Niko Omilana, YouTube prankster
Ruth Codd, actor known for The Midnight Club
Tameka Empson, actor known for EastEnders
Cat Burns, singer
Usually, contestants play to win a cash prize for themselves, but the Celebrity Traitors cast will be vying to take home £100,000 for their chosen charity.
Claudia, clearly very excited by the Celebrity Traitors cast, said: "We're incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. I'd love to say we'll take it easy on them and they'll just wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks but that would be a lie.".
Who said no to Celebrity Traitors?
The Apprentice's Baroness Karren Brady recently revealed that she was asked to join Celebrity Traitors but turned down the offer. Why? Because she's "never seen it" and "doesn't have the time". Fair play. Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher also rejected an advance, revealing on Twitter, "I got asked. I don't do celebrity". We're disappointed about that one, but the producers are probably relieved.
Money Saving Expert's Martin Lewis also had to say no due to time commitments, writing on Twitter: "I'm no Traitor (sadly). I've got FOMO looking at the Celebrity Traitors lineup. I was asked if I wanted to do it, but said no as I couldn't commit the time. I hadn't watched it then (but watched the last series after that and Ioved it), so now feel a little gutted (though I still don't have the time)."
It's Friends star Courtney Cox that we were most wanting to see on the lineup, though, and thought the odds might be in our favour. Why? Because she's a close friend of Claudia's, who we thought might persuade her to make the trip across the pond. However, in an interview with Radio Times, when asked whether there is anyone she would "veto" from appearing because their participation would distract her, Claudia said: "I haven't vetoed anyone, but I think it would be hard if a great friend did it." So, that might explain why Courtney didn't end up booking that plane ticket to Scotland. Monica Geller would have made a fantastic Traitor, though.
Claudia, meanwhile, previously revealed that some of the names on her 'hit list' included broadcaster Kirsty Young, presenter Alison Hammond, actor Adam Woodyatt (who'd have "walked to Scotland" to be part of it, apparently) and presenter Victoria Coren. Her friend, presenter Rylan Clark, was certainly keen, having told Radio Times that he would "go to town" on the show. "Literally every time I see Claudia, I'm like, 'Why has this not been done? Sort it out or I'll cut your fringe off, babe," he joked (though we aren't entirely convinced it was a joke). There's no sign of any of those names on the lineup, though, so maybe they were too close to Claudia to take part.
What happens on The Traitors?
New to The Traitors, which debuted in 2022, and not sure what we're going on about? Well, this gripping whodunnit is set in a grand castle in the Scottish Highlands (hence all the must-have knitwear and coats). It follows a group of contestants as they attempt to uncloak and banish the 'Traitors' hiding among them before all the 'Faithfuls' are killed off. The aim as a Faithful is to make it to the end in a bid to win a share of a cash prize, while a Traitor hopes to maintain their secrecy, end up the last man or woman standing, and take it all...
How do I apply to go on The Traitors?
Fancy yourself as a cunning Traitor or smart Faithful? If you're aged 18 or over you can apply online. However, the closing date for season four applications has now closed, so you'll have to wait until next year.
