Billy Joelâs daughter has shared an update on her fatherâs medical condition after it was revealed that heâs been diagnosed with a brain disorder.
Last week, Joel announced the cancellation of all of his upcoming touring concert dates, after being diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH). In a statement accompanying the cancellation, Joel shared that his condition was âexacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balanceâ.

In a new post on social media, Billyâs daughter Alexa Ray has shared an update on his progress, saying heâs âentirely committed to making a full recovery with ongoing physical-therapy treatments as he continues to regain his strengthâ.
She also called him âthe strongest and most resilient man Iâve ever known,â and thanked his fans for âthe genuine care, empathy, and concernâ theyâve showed since his reveal.

Prior to the diagnosis reveal, Joel in March postponed his UK shows and a handful of North American dates to 2026 â these shows are now cancelled entirely. All ticketholders will be automatically refunded.
In other news about the musician, the forthcoming new Billy Joel documentary will open the Tribeca Festival 2025. Billy Joel: And So It Goes â a two-part doc directed by Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin â will examine Joelâs life and music, âexploring the love, loss and personal struggles that fuel his songwritingâ. Itâll feature access to never-before-seen performances, home movies, and personal photographs, along with one-on-one interviews.
