So back in 2008, the entire city of Chicago was buzzing—not just because the Bulls had landed the No. 1 draft pick, but because that pick was a hometown kid from Englewood: Derrick Rose. The hype was real, and Rose delivered. Just three years into the league, he made history as the youngest MVP ever in 2011. But right when he was at the top, things took a turn. A brutal ACL tear in 2012 kept him sidelined for an entire season.

Still, Rose didn’t just disappear. Instead, he kept showing up. After eight years with the Bulls, he bounced through multiple teams — from the Knicks to the Pistons, and finally wrapping things up with the Grizzlies. Even with all the injuries, his reputation never really took a hit. Rose stayed respected, and more importantly, stacked up some serious wealth along the way.

But then again, money was never his driving force. As he once said, “Man, I don’t care about… Not to be rude—I don’t care about no fu—– money. It’s not about that. I’ve saved up enough money.” That’s confidence. So now the question is—how much did D-Rose actually earn to be this chill about it? Let’s break it down.

How rich is Derrick Rose really in 2025?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the 2011 MVP is sitting on an estimated fortune of $90 million in 2025. A huge chunk of that obviously comes from his time on the court, but it doesn’t stop there. Over the years, Rose has racked up endorsement deals and made some solid investments—so yeah, it’s not just his jump shot that brought in the cash.

Back in 2008, the Bulls didn’t waste a second. They locked Rose in with a four-year, $22.5 million rookie deal. And it paid off fast—after clinching a spot on the All-NBA First Team, he became eligible for a major upgrade. Sure enough, Chicago gave him a five-year, $94.3 million extension. That’s not just a raise, that’s a full-on money storm.

Then came 2016—and a shift. The Bulls traded him to the Knicks. His final year in Chicago alone pulled in $20 million, which, when adjusted for inflation, jumps to around $25.689 million. The Knicks took over the last year of his contract, dishing out $21.3 million, or $26.993 million today. Sadly, after a rough 31–51 season, New York decided to let him go. As reports stated, the front office told Rose, “they were moving on.”

After that, Rose’s contracts weren’t so flashy. He signed with the Cavaliers for a one-year, $2.1 million contract—a brutal drop from his previous pay. Then came the Timberwolves with a deal even smaller: $418,607 in 2017. The next season, he did get a raise to $2.39 million, but still, nothing close to his MVP days. Finally, Memphis gave him a decent $7.5 million, and the Knicks later offered a 3-year, $43.56 million deal that gave his bank account some relief.

All told, Rose earned around $167.73 million in his 16-year NBA run. When you adjust that for inflation, it hits $209.8 million. That “saved up enough money” quote? Makes total sense now.

Off-court ventures and deals

Well, right after landing in the NBA in 2008, Derrick Rose didn’t just grab attention on the court—he caught Adidas’ eye, too. Initially, it was a $1 million-per-year deal. But by 2012, things got serious. He signed a monster contract with Adidas, reportedly worth $185 million. And that’s just the headline.

Dig a little deeper, and the numbers get wilder. Rose earns around $12 million per year, plus $5 million in appearance fees and private jet access. On top of that? He can pull in up to $6.5 million annually in royalties based on sales. Adidas even pays his older brother $250K and his childhood best friend $75K as consultants. Sadly, just 64 days after signing, Rose tore his ACL—yet Adidas stood by him. He also cashed in from Wilson, Skullcandy, Powerade, Force Factor, and even a local Nissan dealership. But one thing is clear, D-Rose is set for life.
