Word around MomTok was that Zac gambled away his medical school tuition money and In Touch explains down the accusations and reveals if they are true.
Jen Affleck Addressed Husband Zac’s Gambling Habits During Season 1
Layla Taylor’s cast birthday trip to Las Vegas during season 1 showed the downfall of visiting Sin City. Not only did Zac humiliate and ridicule Jen for attending a Chippendales show with the women, but he broke a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints rule by gambling.
Before going on vacation, Jen and Zac discussed their Vegas plans, and his included hitting the poker tables. While showing off his gambling attire that wouldn’t “give any tells to any of the other players,” Jen asked, “Who told him he was playing poker?”
“Well, you told me you’re going to give me a bankroll so I could play,” he replied.
Jen gave her husband $2,500 for gambling, but made it clear she expected him to come back with the full amount or make a profit. They made a deal that if Zac lost the money, he wouldn’t be able to gamble for a while.
The influencer opened up about Zac’s gambling during a confessional interview, after production asked her if they were able to discuss the issue.
“Yes, yes, as long as we’re not making it as he’s an addict,” Jen said.
Did Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Zac Affleck Gamble Away His Money for Med School?
After Zac’s gambling bug was out in the open, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Demi Engemann alleged that Zac gambled away his tuition for med school. Zac met up with Demi and Jessi Ngatikaura and cleared the air during season 2, episode 2, where the truth prevailed.
“I feel like there’s been some weird contention and things ever since Vegas. I said some super hurtful things to Jen. Gambling and then complaining about Chippendales is – I look like the biggest hypocrite in the world,” Zac admitted. “I could have easily just been like, ‘Hey, I’m bummed out,’ but like, ‘I get you having fun.’ You were being a supportive friend. And I didn’t, and I regret that. I’m grateful for what you guys said. Honestly, like, it has been, like, transformative for our marriage, because then, like, it’s helped us have some of the hardest conversations we’ve ever had.”

Zac went on to call out Demi for “talking major s–t” about him by saying he gambled away his funds for med school.
“That came from Jen,” Demi revealed, later adding, “I would have never just made that up or brought that up if I didn’t think that was the truth.”
Zac reacted by stating the gambling rumor “was 100 percent a blatant lie.”
Later in the episode, Jen and Zac went to Jessi’s house to further clear the air with her and Demi. During a confessional, Jen shared that she was “hurt” by her girlfriends for “talking negatively about [her] to [her] husband.”
Meanwhile, Demi was confused about Jen’s feelings toward her and Jessi because she “was the one [who] brought everyone into her marriage and into those problems.”
“I was being told that you gambled money that was being given to you by family, which apparently is not true,” Demi told Zac and Jen, adding, “I would like clarification on that because I would have never said that if that wasn’t told to me.”
The couple seemed stumped and Jen suggested Zac clarify the accusations.

“Babe. OK, I mean, we can get into that if that’s what you want, but I would appreciate it if you would just tell them the truth – and that is not the truth,” he said.
Jen hammered the nail in the coffin by saying, “No, he didn’t gamble money that his parents sent us.”
Demi and Jessi were furious with Jen’s confession and Demi didn’t hold back her feelings in a solo confessional.
“What the f–k, Jen? Zack didn’t gamble away the money that was given to him for medical school,” she said. “That was a big reason why we all were so worried about her and her relationship. I don’t even know what to believe right now.”
