Doctor Who star lands surprise role at Eurovision 2025 in surprise crossover

Ncuti Gatwa will deliver the results of the UK Jury during the Eurovision 2025 Grand Final later this month.
The Doctor Who star joins a long line of familiar faces who’ve announced the UK’s jury scores over the years, including Joanna Lumley, Catherine Tate and Nigella Lawson.
Gatwa’s Eurovision appearance forms part of a massive night of entertainment on the BBC, with the broadcaster dubbing it “Super Saturday”.
As well as the live Grand Final, which will see 25 countries compete for the 2025 title, BBC One will also air a special Eurovision-themed episode of Doctor Who earlier in the evening.
In the episode, titled The Interstellar Song Contest, Gatwa’s Doctor teams up with companion Belinda Chandra (played by Varada Sethu) to visit the 803rd edition of a galaxy-wide singing competition.
The episode also features cameos from Rylan and Eurovision legend Graham Norton.

Later that evening, Gatwa will appear live on the actual Eurovision Song Contest stage to read out the UK jury's votes.
This year’s competition will see the UK entry, country-pop trio Remember Monday, perform their track What The Hell Just Happened? in hopes of taking the crown.
The trio, Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele, first met at sixth-form college over a decade ago and have since carved out careers in musical theatre before forming their band.
Speaking at the Swiss Ambassador’s residence in London, in which The Standard was in attendance, Hull said the group were overwhelmed by the warmth of the Eurovision community.
“The Eurovision community and everyone we've met, we feel like all of that we're taking with us,” she shared.

“We genuinely feel - and I know we sound like a broken record saying this, we genuinely feel so grateful and so honoured to be welcomed with such open arms into this community and we genuinely want to meet every single person out in Basel.
“We want to hear everyone's stories and share our stories - and sing for everyone. We're just so, so happy to be a part of this and we will look back on this memory as the most incredible experience in our entire lives.”
The group, known for their tight harmonies and theatrical flair, will be aiming to improve the UK’s track record at Eurovision. Last year, Olly Alexander placed 18th with Dizzy in Malmö, and Mae Muller came second from bottom in 2023 with I Wrote A Song.
