EastEnders confirms legendary return for character after 20 years away

Albert Square legend Michelle Ryan has made a stunning return as Zoe Slater after leaving fans on tenterhooks for two decades. On Monday's episode (16th June), avid EastEnders viewers were treated to Zoe's grand entrance following intense rumours.
The BBC One drama expertly hinted at her arrival with sneaky peeks posted on the serial's official social media handles, tantalising fans about who would be gracing Albert Square once again.
Each cryptic snippet showed teases from a character's eye view as they traversed iconic spots like the tube station and the Minute Mart, intriguingly captioned: "Blink and you'll miss it!"
Hints like the click-clack of heels audible in the clips led to widespread whispers that a female character was poised for a comeback.

It shockingly emerged a year in that she was actually Kat Slater's (played by Jessie Wallace) daughter, sparking years of tumultuous mother-daughter dynamics that have yet to simmer down, reports Belfast Live.
Not only remembered for her Slater lineage, Zoe infamously juggled ill-fated romancesâmost notably with Dennis Rickman (Nigel Harman).
Ultimately, Zoe found herself ensnared in the grisly saga surrounding Den Watts' (Leslie Grantham) demise, caught in a web spun with Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman) and Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf), all unravelling after her ill-starred affair and pregnancy with Den.

The BBC soap has been playing its cards close to the chest about the reasons for Zoe's return but have hinted that it won't be without complications.
Discussing her characterâs return, Michelle shared: "I can't say too much as there is a lot of drama to come, but Zoe is a mess. She's not the girl who left Walford twenty years ago, and she's been really struggling on her own.
"She has her defences up, but this week you will see that she needs help, but whether she is willing to accept it is another story."

Continuing his enthusiasm, he couldnât hide his delight: "I was absolutely delighted when Michelle agreed to return, and I'm thrilled to welcome her back to Walford. Whilst I can't say too much at this stage, Zoe's return is just one of the many exciting storylines we have planned."
