Nwodim â who is hosting the Met Gala red carpet livestream alongside Teyana Taylor and La La Anthony â made her debut at this year's Met Gala on Monday, May 5. The Saturday Night Live star, 37, wore a three-piece black suit by Christopher John Rogers for the event.
Nwodim's ensemble consisted of a cropped suit jacket with structured shoulder pads, a cleavage-baring corset with a ruffled peplum hem and matching ankle cropped pants.
The Mr. Throwback star's look contained pops of playfulness through the details. The sleeves of her jacket featured buttons that formed a rainbow of colors up the sleeves, which she matched with her nails. The bold additions continued with bright red patent leather pumps and a dazzling diamond necklace that hung between her chest.

Nwodim maintained neutral tones with her glam, opting for simple brown eyeshadow and black eyeliner for her eyes, rose colored blush placed at the apples of her cheeks and a glossy brown lip to complete the look.

This year, "Tailored for You" is the dress code, inspired by this year's Costume Institute theme âSuperfine: Tailoring Black Style.â
Last October, Vogue announced Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour would be co-chairs for this year's Met Gala, alongside LeBron James as honorary chair. The event, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is a fundraiser for The Costume Institute and spotlights the museum's spring 2025 exhibition, âSuperfine: Tailoring Black Style, which is the theme for the gala.

Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton shared that the exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Millerâs 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores âthe Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.â
The exhibit âpresents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,â according to a post on the museumâs Instagram.
The Met Gala's dress code for this year is âTailored for You,â a nod to the exhibitionâs focus on menswear and suiting. This year's event also has a star-studded host committee, which includes Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Angel Reese, and Usher.

The comedianâs appearance marks her first-ever Met Gala. However, in between her SNL shows, she has made a couple of red carpet appearances, more recently at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards. At the Feb. 22 event, the nominee and presenter wore a LaQuan Smith dress with a tie-dye effect, dazzling jewelry and sandals.
The night before, at the NAACP Image Awards Creative Honors, she wore a Harbison Studio RE25 vibrant cerulean corseted minidress and a matching floor-length coat.Â

Prior to the actressâ recent red carpets, she told Fashionista in August 2024, that when she was a child she thought about becoming a fashion designer. âI would have sketches of clothing that I'd think, maybe, one day, I'd make. I used to love planning out my outfits in elementary and middle school â the night before, I would have my outfits lined up.âÂ
âI didn't have the number of items I have in my wardrobe now, so I'd be like, 'I've got these pieces to work with, and I need to make them look new every time, and so I'm going to pair this thing instead. No one's seen this combo yet.'â
â[Fashion]'s always been something I've been interested in and inspired by. I love looking at other people's fashion and being inspired,â she added.
She noted that she also loves to look at âdatedâ fashion, as well as a âclassic, clean, effortless with a touch of sexyâ look. Â
âOne of the outfits I feel most confident in is high-waisted denim, a white T-shirt, some jewelry to accessorize and swap the shoes out for sneakers or heels,â she said.Â

The comedian also confessed that she âhates trying clothes onâ and never wants to go in person to shop.
âIt also feels like inventory in-store is just not what it used to be. I circumvent all of that in-person mess and love to shop online,â she said. âI'm online shopping, lowkey, at all times. While other people are scrolling Instagram, I'm online window shopping â and looking at menus.â
