Harry and Meghan's friendship with David and Victoria Beckham ended in call
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are said to be "secretly supporting" Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz after the young couple hosted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for a private dinner.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have reportedly welcomed Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz for an intimate dinner at their Montecito residence in California, amidst the ongoing rift within the Beckham household.
The gathering is understood to have been planned prior to the recent discord among the Beckhams, with Brooklyn and Nicola notably absent from father David's 50th birthday festivities. It has been hinted that the two couples "found a lot of common ground," given Prince Harry and Meghan's virtual estrangement from most of the Royal Family.

According to The Sun, Prince Harry and Meghan are now "secretly supporting" Brooklyn and Nicola. This revelation comes amid past reports that Prince Harry was once friendly with David, although this bond appears to have deteriorated following an uncomfortable suspicion raised by Meghan.

We revisit their initial camaraderie and the ensuing strain on their relationship. David Beckham, the ex-England football captain, first met Prince Harry years ago.
When Harry began dating Meghan, it was reported that David and Victoria Beckham extended their support to the then-actress as she settled into London life, reports the Mirror.
Article continues belowVictoria was said to have shared her coveted little black book containing contacts for top hairdressers and stylists in the city with Meghan. However, when details of their burgeoning friendship were publicised, tensions arose between the two couples.
Meghan was reportedly suspicious that Victoria had been 'leaking' stories which led to an uncomfortable phone call between Harry and David Beckham. An insider revealed to The Sun: "Harry was very polite, but obviously it was a pretty awkward exchange and David was mortified. Inexplicably, [Meghan] feared Victoria was behind it - I mean, the idea that Victoria Beckham would be personally ringing journalists to give them a scoop is ridiculous - and spoke to Harry about it.
"Harry is very protective of Meghan, and decided to deal with the matter head-on, by directly contacting his good pal, David. He quickly put Harry right, and the two men agreed to move on - but it certainly made things awkward for a while."

Nevertheless, the Beckhams scored an invite to Harry and Meghan's nuptials and witnessed the couple tie the knot among other friends, family, and celebrities at St George's Chapel on 19 May 2018. However, reports suggest that they were only invited to the ceremony and not to the subsequent reception, a detail that is believed to have ruffled the Beckhams.
Later in October 2018, the Sussexes embarked on a tour across Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific, timing it with the Invictus Games in Sydney. Harry had enlisted David Beckham as an ambassador for the Games, and the ex-England captain flew to Australia in support of the event.

Relations reportedly soured when the Prince mysteriously declined to meet with David in Sydney. It was alleged that Harry's distance from his friend was due to Meghan's concerns about Victoria possibly sharing stories about her with the press.
Despite this, David initially expressed his pride in Harry after the 2020 announcement that he and Meghan would step back from the Royal Family.
David, speaking to Entertainment Tonight, hailed Harry as an "amazing" individual, saying, "We love him," on behalf of himself and Victoria. "But I'm proud to see him growing up as an individual and being that person that every father wants to be."

Following their Royal departure, however, Harry and Meghan have made several public criticisms against the Royal family and the monarchy, actions which would likely have distressed David, a staunch advocate of the monarchy who queued for 12 hours to pay his respects to the Queen while she lay in state.
Since then, the two couples have maintained a distance. When David and Victoria's oldest son Brooklyn tied the knot with actress Nicola in an opulent Florida wedding in 2022, Harry and Meghan were absent.
Furthermore, when football legend Lionel Messi joined David's Inter Miami team, a glittering array of celebrities gathered for his debut, but the Sussexes weren't present.

One potential point of contention between the Sussexes and the Beckhams could be David's close ties with Prince William and King Charles.
Like Harry, William has enjoyed a long-standing friendship with David and Victoria Beckham, who were among the guests at his wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011.

In 2022, David accompanied both William and Kate on their trip to Boston for the Prince of Wales's second annual Earthshot Prize awards. Here, he presented one of the prizes for one of William's key initiatives.
Just last year, David was appointed as an ambassador for the King's Foundation.
This week, Victoria received a significant endorsement from the royals when Princess Kate was spotted donning a chic olive trouser suit from Victoria's fashion line.

Reacting to Kate's sartorial choice, a source close to the Beckhams commented: "The Princess of Wales has worn Victoria's designs before and it's really great to see that she's wearing one again, especially as the outfit was not gifted and was very much her own call to wear it. Both couples support each other's charities and David and William are friends too, so there is a great deal of mutual respect there."
Kate's endorsement of Victoria's brand will undoubtedly be a welcome boost for the former Spice Girl. It's reported that Victoria is 'heartbroken' following a disagreement with daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz.
Earlier this month, rumours of a rift within the Beckham family were stoked when Brooklyn Beckham, aged 26, failed to attend his father's 50th birthday celebration in Notting Hill with Nicola, despite being in London at the time.

A confidant of Brooklyn and Nicola later disclosed that Victoria and David "refused" to meet the pair in private before the birthday event, despite them having made the journey to London with the specific aim of mending their relationship. The Beckham clan's circle has expressed sheer indignation after associates of Nicola aired a multitude of sensational allegations behind the rift involving Brooklyn and his kin.
A friend intimated that "emotional abuse and toxic behaviour" within the family is to blame for the discord among the four. Nonetheless, David and Victoria have dismissed such accusations as baseless and are incensed by the implications.
Article continues belowAn insider familiar with the Beckhams remarked: "I don't think anyone who has ever seen David and Victoria with their children would recognise this deeply unpleasant attack. It doesn't even warrant a response, it's so ludicrous and patently untrue."
A second confidant stated to The Mirror that the couple was left agape upon hearing such allegations.
