The 55-year-old Bronx-bred singer-actress - who is single after her high-profile marriage split from Ben Affleck - hosted the CBS live event at the Fontainebleau hotel and kicked off the night by singing and dancing to a six-minute medley of 23 hits by the nominees.
While most A-list celebrities including Taylor Swift skipped the event, JLo did her best to single-handedly bring the star power by performing hits including Billie Eilish's Birds of a Feather, Sabrina Carpenter's Espresso and Beyonce's Texas Hold 'Em.
But she left viewers cringing over a 'disgusting' make-out session with her dancers, with some branding it a 'desperate' attempt to make Affleck jealous following their official divorce four months ago.
Others blasted her for going 'too far' with her lesbian kiss, with one X user claiming: 'Jennifer Lopez has lost the plot.'
A viewer asked: 'Why is Jennifer Lopez kissing everyone at the AMAs?' while another chimed in: 'Just looked up from my phone and JENNIFER LOPEZ IS KISSING A GIRL?!?!'

The songstress began her set by singing an excerpt of her 20212 song Dance Again.
She then transitioned into a medley of viral hits from the past year, including Chappell Roan‘s HOT TO GO, Morgan Wallen and Post Malone‘s I Had Some Help, and Tinashe‘s Nasty.
The 51st American Music Awards are being held at the Fontainebleau hotel located in the heart of Las Vegas on Memorial Day.
Lopez is taking on hosting duties for this year's ceremony, which comes a decade after she first hosted in 2015.
One of her glamorous looks of the evening was a beaded silver dress with a halter neck design.
She draped an aqua-blue jewel-toned cape over it, wearing it falling off her shoulders as the floral-embroidered number fell at her feet.

People quickly took to social media to discuss the act, which saw Lopez don a skintight nude catsuit with black patches and jewels
Winners of the night included 23-year-old Billie, who took home the coveted Artist of the Year top prize.
She beat out Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Wallen and Zack Bryan.
'This is so crazy. I feel speechless,' the Ocean Eyes singer-songwriter said in a video from Europe, where she is on tour. 'I wish I could be there tonight.'
That's So True singer Gracie Abrams won of New Artist of the Year, and she also sent a recorded video from a location on tour to accept her honor.
She thanked her fans, whom she said she's 'been lucky enough to learn from.'
'They have reminded me of the light that exists out there,' Abrams noted.
Meanwhile, SZA took home AMA accolades for Best Female R&B Artist and Best R&B Song for Saturn.
And Becky G celebrated being named Favorite Female Latin Artist.

Jackson received the Icon Award during the festivities, while Stewart was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
It was announced in early April that JLo had signed on for the hosting gig.

'We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Lopez back to host the American Music Awards,' said Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, in a press release.
He added, 'Jennifer's incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show. We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick off celebration of summer.'

A number of A-listers are set to present the big wins, including comedians Nikki Glaser and Tiffany Haddish, actor Wayne Brady, model Cara Delevingne, pop star Ciara, streamer Kai Cenat, and singers Megan Moroney and Shaboozey.
The 2025 AMAs are airing live on CBS, and fans can also stream the awards show on Paramount+ in the US.
This year marks the first time the awards show will be shown on CBS, after being aired on ABC since 1974.
Haddish wore a hooded, plunging blue dress and made a crack about JLo's Ben Affleck divorce while presenting.
The 45-year-old comedic actress praised the Waiting for Tonight hitmaker as she stated,'Our host just danced to 23 hits in six minutes. Just from that opening number alone, Jenny From the Block got all her steps in for the day.'

Jennifer bared her toned legs in a gold dress with double slits
She then joked, 'Save a dancer for me, JLo, damn. You ain't the only one out here that's single.'
An onlooker told DailyMail.com that Lopez was a good sport and laughed off the remark.
Lopez's divorce from Affleck was finalized in January, following her August 2024 filing.
The exes tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022, followed by a formal wedding in Georgia in August.
They were previously engaged in 2002 but called off the wedding in 2003 before Lopez went on to marry Marc Anthony, and Affleck Jennifer Garner.
“Nothing seems to be imminent, but it will 100 percent happen,” a source said of a potential engagement between the famous couple.
