Jimmy Kimmel Shares His Heartwarming New Role
Comedian Jimmy Kimmel revealed that he has become a grandfather after his oldest daughter welcomed a baby girl.
Comedian Jimmy Kimmel canceled his Monday night show for a very important reason. He revealed on Tuesday he became a first time grandfather during his opening monologue.
His oldest daughter Katie welcomed a baby girl with her with husband Will Logsdon. The 57-year-old revealed the cute name they gave their new family member: Patti Joan.
He added the name Joan was in honor of his mother. The late-night host called the new role âa big responsibility.â
The host also made sure to thank his longtime sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez on how he helped during the birth.
âYou were such a great doula. You were reassuring, you were calm, your hands were soft. You were perfect,â he joked. âThank you so much, on behalf of the whole family.â
Kimmel noted that most do not realize he has older kids.
âMy oldest daughter, you know, people donât realize⊠people know I have two little kids, they donât know I have two older kids,â Kimmel began.
âMy oldest daughter, sheâs 83 years old,â he jokingly said. âHer name is Katie.â
Kimmel also has a 31-year-old son named Kevin. He shares the two with his ex-wife Gina Maddy, according to People.
The comedian married Molly McNearney in 2013, and since the two have welcomed two children: Jane, 10, and Billy, 8.
âIt is kind of scary though to bring a child into this world,â Kimmel said during his monologue. âAnd say, âOK youâre in this now at least until the year 2100. Good luck!'â
Comedian and Kimmelâs ex girlfriend Sarah Silverman appeared on the Tuesday episode while promoting her new Netflix comedy special. During the exchange, Silverman revealed she brought him âgrandpa gifts.â
Silverman pulled out a plastic bag and said the items are for his grandpa pockets. She said the bag consisted of a penny, a button, string, candy and a safety pin.
However, the comedian wasnât finished with the gifts. She gave him a photoshopped black-and-white war image which depicted Kimmel wearing a helmet and holding a rifle.
âListen, youâre a grandpa now,â Silverman began. âYou need to be a hero. You canât just be a veteran of K-Rock.â
Kimmel was wondering which war he should say he was in. âI guess World War II,â Silverman quickly said.
The two also joked about how they used to date. Kimmel wanted to know how Silverman feels knowing she used to date someone who is now a grandpa.
âWell, itâs a bummer,â she said. âBut youâve always been older than me.â
The pair sparked dating rumors after their flirty exchanges on âCelebrity Big Brother UK.â
