Chris Brown released on $6.7 million bail in U.K. bottle attack
Brown, 36, was arrested in connection with a bottle attack on a music producer in a London nightclub in February 2023.
Chris Brown was released on bail Wednesday in Britain after being arrested in connection with a 2023 bottle attack.
Brown, 36, posted $6.7 million bail after initially being denied the chance at release, the BBC reported. His bail conditions include being allowed to go ahead with his planned world tour, which starts on June 8 in Amsterdam.
The āForeverā singer had to pay $5.37 million immediately, with the remaining $1.33 million to be paid within a week, according to the BBC. He did not publicly comment following his release and has not yet been asked to enter a plea in the case.
Brownās arrest was tied to a February 2023 incident at Tape nightclub in London. Police said he attacked music producer Abe Diaw with a bottle of tequila. Diaw also filed a civil lawsuit making similar accusations.
In the suit, Diaw said Brown struck him in the head with ācrushing blows,ā knocking him down and leaving him defenseless on the floor, then proceeding to stomp on him. Diaw said he was hospitalized with lacerations to his head and torn ligaments in his leg.
More than two years after the alleged incident, Brown was arrested in Manchester on May 15. He was back in Europe days before his Breezy Bowl XX world tour was scheduled to begin.
His next court date was scheduled for June 20, the BBC reported. At that time, he will be in between shows in the U.K., performing at Cardiffās Principality Stadium on June 19 and Londonās Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 21.
