Nikola Jokic is ready to drown his sorrows after the Denver Nuggets' heartbreaking Game 7 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
After being taken all the way by the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round, the Nuggets raced into an early 11-point lead in a road decider against the No.1 seed.

But with Aaron Gordon limping through a hamstring injury, the Thunder overpowered Denver to reach the Conference Finals with a 125-93 victory.
Jokic put up 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists but it wasn't enough to earn a shot at a second ring.
As he gets ready to rest his aching body, there was only one thing on his mind.
"The next couple of days is gonna be a lot of beer probably," he told reporters.

The Nuggets came into the decider 4-2 in six Game 7 contests but the Thunder were too strong.
It is a second consecutive semifinal exit for Denver since winning the NBA title in 2023.
Jokic is in his prime at 30 and the three-time MVP will hope to be on a contender again next season -- which may require a busy offseason.
“We definitely need to figure out a way to get more depth,” he admitted. “It seems like the teams that have longer rotations, the longer benches, are the ones winning.

Jamal Murray and Gordon are tied down for the future along with Jokic, but after that depth is a problem.

“I 100 percent believe that we can win a second NBA championship,” Murray said. “I have confidence in everyone in that locker room. We just came up short tonight. We just have to get back into the gym and get back to it next year.”
Denver is looking for a new GM after the stunning decision to fire Calvin Booth on the eve of the playoffs.
As it stands, his replacement will not have a pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and the franchise is staring down the second apron with little financial wiggle room.
As good as Russell Westbrook was against the Clippers -- the team likely wouldn't have won without him -- he was as bad in the Thunder loss.
He signed a two-year $6.8 million deal and holds a player option for next season, which means he could end up as an unrestricted free agent.
Nuggets beat reporter Vinny Benedetto tried to get Westbrook to confirm his plans but got nothing out of him.

"Tried to get Russell Westbrook in the locker room to see he had made a decision on his player option for next season," he posted on X. "He looked at his watch and asked what I was wearing tomorrow.
"When I said I didn’t know, he said 'exactly' and walked off. Nuggets aren’t doing exit interviews."
Michael Porter Jr. is another piece that might not fit in a winning puzzle.
He repeated a poor showing against the Minnesota Timberwolves in last year's semifinals, with missed shots increasing the burden on Murray and Jokic, and a cap hit of around $40million per season for the next two years looks like an overpay .

"At the end of the day I didn’t play well," he said after insisting a shoulder injury impacted his game. "It was tough for me mentally.”
The Thunder and Wolves will now collide for a shot at the NBA Finals while the Nuggets search for a golden bullet to fix an unbalanced roster.
