Kelsea Ballerini Performs Stripped Down Version of "Baggage" on 'The Voice'
Kelsea Ballerini is a rookie coach on 'The Voice,' but she's a veteran performer, something she proved during the show's latest live episode.
Kelsea Ballerini is showing off her voice! On Tuesday’s episode of The Voice, the season’s first-time coach took to the stage to perform her hit song, “Baggage.”
Dressed in a sparkling gown and surrounded by the female musicians with whom she made her latest album, Ballerini dazzled the stage throughout her performance.
The performance came one day after the season’s Live Semi-Finals, where the Top 12 contestants faced off. Like their coach, the competitors on Team Kelsea rocked stage when it was their turn to perform.
Alanna Lynise performed “I’m Not That Girl” from Wicked, Iris Herrera sang Lola Young’s “Messy,” and Jaelen Johnston honored his late cousin with a cover of Lee Brice’s “I Drive Your Truck.”
On the May 13 episode, the Top 12 will be whittled down to the Top 5. That means seven contestants will get the boot ahead of next week’s finale.
In an October interview with Vanity Fair, Ballerini opened up about her role as a coach.
“I didn’t realize how fiercely protective I am of young women artists,” she said. “I knew that I had a heart for making sure that especially young women feel seen, but my God, in that seat, I’m psychotic about how protective I’m getting.”
Ballerini’s coaching gig came amid a busy time for the singer. After she released her latest album, Patterns, Ballerini set off on her first-ever headlining arena tour, which turned out to be a mega success.
“I’ve been trying to stand in my success more and not make myself smaller,” Ballerini recently told ELLE. “I think that’s a lesson for all women—to be really proud about our wins.”
