Met Gala 2025: Doechii Has a Smoke Break on the Red Carpet
Doechii hit the red carpet at the 2025 Met Gala in New York on May 5, and fans were definitely picking up what the Grammy winner was putting down with her fashion look.

Every good girl needs a little Louis Vuitton.
All eyes were on the "Anxiety" singer when she hit the red carpet at the 2025 Met Gala May 5, stepping out at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art dressed to impress for the charity bash hosted by A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams and Vogue's Anna Wintour.
For the event's Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" theme—and "Tailored for You" dress code—Doechii, 26, rocked a perfectly-fitted cream suit jacket, vest and shorts by the fashion house, completing the look with a burgundy pussy bow and matching shoes with high socks. She also lit up the carpet—literally—as she puffed on a cigar.
And the "What It Is" artist didn't stop there for her Met Gala debut, topping off her look with an afro hairdo as she hit the famed steps. (See every celebrity taking over the 2025 Met Gala here.)
When it comes to her sense of style, Doechii (real name Jaylah Ji'mya Hickmon) prefers to blaze her own trail.
"I like dancing between the past and the future," she told Fashionista in 2023. "I hated the 2000s aesthetic, but I think I've found a particular type of thing that I liked—the off-duty model, soft-core... But I'm not a huge 2000s girl. I usually like to focus on the future when I approach fashion."
Her clothing choices are also influenced by her mom and dad, who she described as "really into fashion."
"My parents were very big on how I dressed and looked," the Grammy winner explained. "Fashion always seemed important to me, because it was important to them. Growing up in Florida, I remember when we would go to the mall, we would dress up. If you go to the state fair, you dress up."

Doechii added, "It was a lot of competitive energy around who was wearing what and who got this first. A lot of my relationship with fashion started with hip-hop culture and Florida."
