Met Gala theme 'saved' as Zendaya pays homage to two huge stars with 2025 look

Actress Zendaya has donned an iconic look at the Met Gala once again, and many fans are certain the Euphoria star is paying homage to both Bianca Jagger and Diana Ross with her latest appearance at the annual fundraiser.

The 28-year-old American star - who recently confirmed her engagement to British actor Tom Holland - turned heads as she posed on the blue carpet outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Costume Institute in New York City on Monday night.

Donning a sleek cream suit complete with an oversized hat, The Challengers actress styled her hair in a neat bun and accessorised the silk ensemble with sparkling diamond earrings.

Menswear writer Derek Guy took to Twitter (X) to give his expert opinion on the fashion icon's look, telling his followers: "Zendaya's outfit kind of reminds me of Bianca Jagger, who bought clothes from Tommy Nutter. Together with cutter Edward Sexton, Nutter upended Savile Row in the 1970s by fusing fashion with traditional craft, making clothes for rock royalty such as The Beatles and Diana Ross."

"ZENDAYA !!! very reminiscent of bianca jagger’s 70s suits and tailored to perfection," another Twitter user agreed, with a third declaring: "One thing about zendaya she's gonna know exactly how to pose on the carpet to sell a look. no wonder she's been law's muse since the beginning. she is BEYOND!!!!"

"Zendaya don’t play fair. My goodness," another gushed as one fan praised the star as they wrote: "Zendaya arrived as the exact theme... SUPERFINE. TAILORED. BLACK. STYLE. It's giving me modern Mahogany realness from the classic Diana Ross film. it's also low-key giving Bridal Dandy with the Tom Holland sponsored ice on that hand. as always, she cleaned across the board. #MetGala."

This year's Met Gala has the theme 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style', and the accompanying dress code is 'Tailored for You'. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour along with actor Colman Domingo, F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, rapper A$AP Rocky, musician-turned-fashion-mogul Pharrell Williams and honorary chair LeBron James are co-chairing the event.

The theme is inspired by the annual spring exhibition, which this year is based in large part on 'Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity,' a book written by Monica L. Miller. She is guest curator of the exhibit.

Zendaya graced the event following Diana Ross's spectacular arrival. She attended solo, without her beau Tom Holland or her go-to stylist Law Roach by her side.

In a conversation with E! News in April, Law Roach hinted at their separate appearances: "We are going to be on the Met Gala steps. Yes, separately this year. That's going to be really amazing. We're doing our own thing this year which is exciting."

Her understated yet elegant suit is a bespoke creation from Louis Vuitton, designed by co-chair Pharrell Williams. Zendaya currently represents the iconic French fashion brand.
