Russell Brand allegedly dragged woman to men's toilet, court docs report
Russell Brand is due to appear in court tomorrow after being charged with rape and sexual assault.
Russell Brand will appear in court tomorrow, May 2, after the actor was charged with rape and sexual assault last month following a police investigation. The former comedian has been accused of touching a woman's breasts and dragging another woman towards a male toilet, according to court documents.
The 49-year-old has been charged with a number of alleged crimes dating back to 1999, following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police, reports the Mirror. Police began investigating the ex-comedian in September 2023 after receiving a number of reports.
â
The investigation followed allegations made by a report from Channel 4âs Dispatches and The Sunday Times. The Met confirmed Brand, who now lives in the US, had been charged in connection with alleged offences between 1999 and 2005, involving four different women.
â
It was announced last month that Russell Brand had been charged with the rape of a woman in the Bournemouth area in 1999 and the indecent assault of a woman in the Westminster area of London in 2001.
It was also announced that the actor had been charged with orally raping and sexually assaulting a woman in 2004 in the Westminster area of London.
Court documents have laid out the details of the charges, where Brand is accused of indecently assaulting a woman in 2001 by âgrabbing her arm and dragging her towards a male toiletâ.

He is also accused of sexually assaulting another woman in Westminster, London, in 2004, by touching her breasts without her consent.
Jaswant Narwal, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said in a statement last month: "We have today authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Russell Brand with a number of sexual offences.
â
"We carefully reviewed the evidence after a police investigation into allegations made following the broadcast of a Channel 4 documentary in September 2023.
"We have concluded that Russell Brand should be charged with offences including rape, sexual assault and indecent assault. These relate to reported non-recent offences between 1999 and 2005, involving four women.
"He will appear at Westminster Magistratesâ Court for a first hearing on Friday May 2 2025. The Crown Prosecution Service reminds everyone that criminal proceedings are active, and the defendant has the right to a fair trial.
â
"It is extremely important that there be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."
In a statement shared on his social media after the charges were announced, Brand denied the allegations.
He said: "I've always told you guys that when I was young and single, before I had my wife and family who are just out of shot over there, my beautiful children, I was a fool, man.
â
"I was a fool, man, before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an imbecile, but what I never was, was a rapist. I've never engaged in non-consensual activity, I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes. I want to thank all of you for your continuing support."
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is leading the investigation, said: "The women who have made reports continue to receive support from specially trained officers. The Met's investigation remains open and detectives ask anyone who has been affected by this case, or anyone who has any information, to come forward and speak with police."

He continued: "A dedicated team of investigators is available via email at CIT@met.police.uk. Support is also available by contacting the independent charity, Rape Crisis at 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line."
