A wave of celebrities — and even the Prime Minister — rushed to support Sam Thompson as he broke down in tears during his emotional 260-mile Soccer Aid challenge. The Made In Chelsea star was seen sobbing in pain after suffering a torn calf, which ultimately ruled him out of the high-profile match.
But the touching moment, aired in his new ITV documentary, saw famous faces including Stephen Fry, Gordon Ramsay, Olivia Colman, Oti Mabuse, Robbie Williams, JLS, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer send video messages to lift his spirits.

The 32-year-old raised more than £1.5 million for Unicef, trekking from Manchester to Old Trafford to deliver the official match ball. But as the documentary showed, the journey was far from smooth.
On the third leg of the challenge, Sam was seen grimacing in agony as his calf gave out. Moments later, he spotted best mate Pete Wicks ahead and collapsed into his arms.

Struggling to hold back tears, Sam said: “I’m not” when Pete told him: “You’re smashing it.”
Reflecting on the breakdown, Sam admitted: “I lost myself during that moment. All of this frustration, all of this emotion about how embarrassed I am and how I feel like I’m letting people down came out.”
He added: “Everyone else who does these challenges completes it and I was being proved right that I wasn’t the guy.”
Fans saw Pete supporting Sam behind the scenes too, after the reality star said: “I’m not going to be able to do this thing.” Pete calmly reassured him: “You’re nearly halfway there. Whatever you’ve been through now, you’ve already done.”
The heartwarming moment reached its peak when Sam received the surprise video messages from a string of A-listers — prompting another tearful moment from the star.
Despite the injury, Sam pushed through and completed the final leg, crossing the finish line last Friday.

However, doctors later confirmed he wouldn’t be fit to play in Sunday’s Soccer Aid match.
Appearing on This Morning, Sam told host Alison Hammond: “I’m still very sore, still got the torn calf… I came here with high hopes and went to see Gary the physio.
"I can kick a ball from a standing start, but when it comes to like general chaos of playing competitive sport there’s just no way.”
Instead, Sam was given a spot on the management team, joking: “They were very kind and said we still want you to be a part, so I get to go on the dark side with Tyson Fury.”
His absence from the pitch also came as he faced an awkward reunion with Louis Tomlinson, the current boyfriend of his ex, Zara McDermott. The pair avoided eye contact during training, with Sam later insisting there were “no hard feelings.”
