Who are the Soccer Aid 2025 commentators on ITV?
One commentator is missing for the first time since 2021
Soccer Aid 2025 is finally here following months of anticipation for the charity football match, but who are its commentators?
The latest edition of the annual event is taking place on Sunday, June 15, with kick-off at 7.30pm at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium.
This year sees England being managed by Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, with former I’m A Celeb winner Harry Redknapp and boxer Tyson Fury joining him in the dugout.
Representing the three lions are the likes of One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson, reality star Sam Thompson, BBC Radio 2's Paddy McGuinness and streamer Angry Ginge.
The World XI will be coached by former Manchester United goalie Peter Schmeichel, with Ireland’s all-time leading goalscorer Robbie Keane coaching, as well as playing. They'll also be joined by actors Martin Compston and Emmett J Scanlon.
Irish singer Dermot Kennedy, Baby Reindeer’s Richard Gadd, Italian footballer Leonardo Bonucci and former Man City striker Carlos Tevez are just some of the names representing the team.

As with every other year, Soccer Aid is available to watch for free and live on ITV1, online via ITVX, and on STV. The coverage will be presented by This Morning’s Dermot O’Leary and Football Focus host Alex Scott, who played for England on 140 occasions.
Dermot and Alex have presented every year of Soccer Aid together since 2021, with viewers big fans of them as a presenting duo.
The voice most associated with Soccer Aid is former ITV star Clive Tyldesley, who worked with the station from 1998 until 2020.
Since 2021, Sam Matterface has been Soccer Aid’s lead commentator, with 2025 his fifth year calling the action from behind the microphone.
The former Sky Sports News presenter and Dancing on Ice commentator has been ITV’s lead football and England commentator going back to the beginning of the 2020–21 season.
After taking over the role from Clive, Sam has seen England come agonisingly close to winning two European Championships, including last year’s final defeat to Spain.
Scotland native Iain Stirling, the voice of Love Island, will not be returning to co-commentate for the first time since 2021.
Currently working on the latest season of the dating show, Iain has injected his witty one-liners into four Soccer Aids.
It was announced on Sunday, June 8, that comedian Jason Manford is stepping into the commentary booth for the first time.
A spokesperson said: “We’re excited to announce @JasonManford will join Sam Matterface as co-commentator on this year’s Soccer Aid match!”
Making his Soccer Aid debut in 2020, Jason has represented the World XI on two occasions despite being from Salford.
