Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz's decision behind Met Gala snub unveiled
Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz-Beckham had been planning to attend the Met Gala on Monday night but made a last minute decision to pull out
Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz made the bold decision to pull out of the Met Gala at the last minute. The pair had been planning to attend the glitzy event hosted by Dame Anna Wintour and had told Brooklyn's parents, David and Victoria Beckham about their plans.
However, in recent days the Peltz-Beckham's have been surrounded by controversy after they failed to attend any of David's celebrations for his 50th birthday. The Beckham family had celebrated on three occasions – an intimate family event at their Cotswolds home, a trip to France and the final event – a boozy dinner party held in Notting Hill, London.
Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola, 30, had jetted in to London for the final night of celebrations but ultimately failed to turn up, leaving David heartbroken. It's claimed that the nepo-baby had not wanted to be around his brother Romeo's girlfriend, Kim Turnbull, who Brooklyn had a brief relationship with.
Sources claim that the aspiring chef and photographer feels as though his family had chosen his younger brother over him. While Brooklyn's family had known of his plans to head to New York for the Met, things took a drastic turn with the pair ultimately deciding against facing the public.
"They cancelled plans to attend the Met because they really intended to be at David's party on Saturday," a source told The Sun. The source went on to add: "But Brooklyn is really upset that blame for the rift has been levelled at Nicola." Elsewhere, they disputed claims that Nicola had been "controlling" Brooklyn and was responsible for his strained relationship with his relatives.

The source commented: "She has never told him what to do and has been nothing but supportive — she's a loyal wife." TMZ reports that Brooklyn gave his family an ultimatum after requesting to celebrate with David in private, rather than attending an event alongside Kim.
But it's believed that while he chose not to publicly send a message to his dad on his birthday, Brooklyn did text David. "He suggested going for breakfast or a coffee but was told the only chance to see the family would be at one of their lavish parties which Kim would be at - so he refused," a source told The Sun.
Elsewhere, a source told the Daily Mail. The source went on to add: "Victoria and David would do anything to get their son back, but they are done with Nicola now."
They went on to claim that Nicola is the reason behind the feud, claiming she "finds a way to start an argument" between Brooklyn and his famous family. They added that while Brooklyn had allegedly planned to attend the birthday celebrations, his wife would "kick something off" making it "impossible" for him to attend.
The source claimed: "It all stinks of a control thing. The family are absolutely certain this is what happened this time round, that a drama was created and Brooklyn doesn’t feel he can turn up to see his family – but it happened three times in a week." Meanwhile, sources close to the Beckham family have claimed to the Mirror that David and Victoria would do "anything" to have their son back.
"It has become a problem and not something they can keep private because of the way the family uses social media. Things have escalated in recent months, and there is a very obvious rift that David and Victoria would love to heal," they told us.
