Justin Baldoni's Wayfarer Foundation Shuts Down Amid Blake Lively Legal Battle
Wayfarer Foundation — the philanthropic arm of Justin Baldoni's production company — is shutting down after a "unanimous decision" from the board.
Wayfarer Foundation—the philanthropic arm of Justin Baldoni‘s production company—is shutting down. Over the weekend, the organization’s founder, Steve Sarowitz, announced that the foundation would cease operations for undisclosed reasons. The announcement comes amid the actor’s legal battle with Blake Lively.
“I am so incredibly proud of the impact this organization has made and deeply grateful for our staff, board, donors and partners,” Sarowitz wrote in a letter posted to social media, blocking comments. “Upon unanimous decision of the board of directors, today we will begin the process of sunsetting the Foundation. We will honor all of our current grant commitments as we carefully wind down operations over the next several weeks.”
It’s worth mentioning that Baldoni is one of three people, including Sarowitz, listed on Wayfarer Foundation’s board. Sarowitz added in a statement, “We understand that this news may come as a surprise, and we will be actively working over the next several weeks to ensure all matters are concluded with care and attention.”

The Wayfarer Foundation aimed at funding and supporting “spiritually-rooted and justice-oriented nonprofits.” According to their website, they provided $33 million in grants to numerous organizations that supported issues such as “Gender Equality,” “Religious Harmony,” “Youth Empowerment,” and “Racial Justice and Unity in Diversity.” Baldoni is listed as Board Secretary of the Wayfarer Foundation on its website. He co-founded Wayfarer Studios, of which Sarowitz is also a partner.
Baldoni has been in a legal battle with his It Ends With Us co-star, Blake Lively, since December, when she sued him for alleged sexual harassment and a smear campaign. Wayfarer Studios, the production company Baldoni co-founded, was named as a defendant. Baldoni has since denied the allegations and countersued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist, alleging civil extortion and defamation. The case will go to trial in March 2026.
