Mexican singer Julion Alvarez calls off Texas concert after visa canceled

Mexican singer Julion Alvarez was forced to call off a planned concert outside Dallas on Saturday after he and his band were denied entry in the U.S.
Alvarez, 42, was scheduled to play in front of 50,000 people at AT&T Stadium on Saturday night. In an Instagram video, he said he and the band learned Friday that their visas had been revoked and they could not enter the U.S.
“It is not possible for us to go to the United States and fulfill our show promise with all of you,” Alvarez told his fans in the video. “It’s a situation that is out of our hands. That’s the information I have and what I can share.”

The last-minute change of plans came as a shock, as Alvarez played three shows at SoFi Stadium in Southern California in April.
The federal government has not commented on Alvarez’s case, citing privacy laws.
U.S. immigration authorities have taken issue with Alvarez in the past. In 2017 he was banned from the country after the federal government accused him of money laundering in connection with a cartel leader, Raul Flores Hernandez.
After five years of legal back-and-forth, Alvarez was cleared in 2022 and permitted to reenter the U.S. He consistently denied any connection with Flores Hernandez, the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.
