Spurs star makes feelings clear with pointed post after Frank announcement
Tottenham have confirmed Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou's replacement and shortly after his appointment Cristian Romero posted a heartfelt message about his former boss
Cristian Romero posted a heartfelt message hailing Ange Postecoglou an hour after Tottenham announced the appointment of Thomas Frank. The Dane has arrived from Brentford to take up the managerial vacancy.
It comes after Postecoglou was sacked following two years in charge in north London. The Australian won the Europa League, ending the club's lengthy trophy drought, but a poor Premier League season ultimately cost him his job.
‌
Postecoglou and his style divided opinion and his dismissal was by no means a surprise, but it has led to an outpouring of emotion from several of his players. Richarlison came out and underlined his affection for his former manager and now Romero has done likewise.
‌
The former Celtic manager spoke defiantly as the club paraded the Europa League trophy, claiming his third season would be even better, and Romero hailed him as a "fantastic coach" who "deserves the best".
He wrote on social media: "Ange, thank you for these two incredible seasons. You’re a fantastic coach, but above all, a great person who deserves the best. From day one you paved the way despite the many obstacles that always existed and always will exist.

"Beyond everything, we won a trophy and went down in the history of this beautiful club, which is the only thing that matters. I wish you the best because you deserve the best, and thank you for everything."

When Tottenham beat Manchester United in Bilbao Postecoglou admitted his job was far from done and that he felt his young group were on the up despite their poor domestic form. He said: "We are still building this team, it is still very young, we need to add experience. My thought process has bene trying to build a team that can be successful for a long time."
Daniel Levy has continued to underline how ruthless he's prepared to be, even if Postecoglou's European success means Tottenham are in the Champions League and will benefit from the subsequent revenue.
‌
Frank was identified as the club's prime candidate to replace the Australian and, after reaching a compensation arrangement with Brentford, his appointment was confirmed on Thursday evening.
The club said: "In Thomas we are appointing one of the most progressive and innovative head coaches within the game. He has a proven track record in player and squad development and we look forward to him leading the team as we prepare for the season ahead."
