Strictly fans emotional over Joe Sugg's tearful reaction to Dianne's BAFTA win
The 2025 BAFTA TV Awards were an emotional viewing experience, with TV viewers left in tears over one particular moment
The 2025 BAFTA TV Awards was a tear-jerker for many viewers, with one particular moment tugging at the heartstrings.
This year's ceremony saw Strictly Come Dancing clinch the award for Most Memorable Moment. The winning moment was Dianne Buswell and Chris McCausland's 'blackout dance' from the 2024 series of the BBC show.
Dianne was present to receive the award, which was determined by a public vote. Although Chris couldn't attend the BAFTAs, he sent a message to fans via his dance partner.
Their 'blackout' dance had resonated deeply with Strictly viewers last year. It featured a segment where Chris covered Dianne's eyes as the stage plunged into darkness, symbolising Chris' own experience of the world as a visually impaired person.

"In one minute and 30 seconds of a dance, I feel like this told such a story. A story of hope, determination, resilience and vulnerability," Dianne expressed on the BAFTA stage, reports the Express.

She then shared Chris' message with Strictly fans: "Chris did have something he wanted me to say, and that is 'after 22 years in comedy, he wins a Bafta for dancing'."
Viewers tuning into the BAFTAs at home on Sunday (11 May) were quick to spot Dianne's boyfriend Joe Sugg in the audience as the camera panned across the room.
Joe was visibly moved as he watched his girlfriend on stage, prompting an outpouring of emotion from TV viewers who were touched by the poignant moment.
"Awwww did I spot a tear in Joe's eye? #BAFTAS #BAFTATVAwards," one viewer shared on X, while another commented: "I've just absolutely wailed at that shot of Joe with tears in his eyes #BAFTATVAwards #BAFTAS.
