The band's track "Future Days" has an important connection to the video game and the TV series
Pearl Jam have released a collection of songs featured on HBO series The Last of Us. The four-track compilation includes the bandâs 2013 song âFuture Days,â which is referenced both in the original video game and the TV show.
The rock band shared a new music video for the track, off their album Lightning Bolt, to coincide with the release.
The compilation also features a live rendition of âFuture Days,â recorded at the Ohana Festival in 2024, the studio version of âAll or None,â and No Codeâs âPresent Tense (Redux).â As well as being released on streaming, the EP is available as a limited edition 12-inch vinyl album.

In the game The Last of Us II, Joel (Pedro Pascal) plays âFuture Daysâ for Ellie (Bella Ramsey) on guitar. In the most recent episode of the series, Ellie picks up a guitar in a theater in Seattle and strums the first line of the song, âIf I ever were to lose you,â hinting at a possible future scene with Joel (maybe a flashback?).
In 2020, Pearl Jamâs Eddie Vedder performed âFuture Daysâ at the Game Awards 2020 in honor of The Last of Us II. The song also featured in one of the trailers for season two of the show.
