Ruth Jones' heartwarming BAFTA speech left viewers all saying the same thing

The BAFTA awards sparked lots of buzz this weekend following Sunday night's impressive ceremony. From Strictly Come Dancing's Dianne Buswell's emotional win to Danny Dyer's heartfelt message to his daughters, the touching moments of the award show captivated the internet.
However, one win in particular left viewers saying the same thing, after a heartfelt acceptance speech. Writer and actress Ruth Jones took home the BAFTA for Female Performance in a Comedy for Gavin and Stacey: The Finale, where she returned to her iconic role as Nessa one last time.

The final episode of the beloved British series drew in an audience of 12.3 million on Christmas Day last year, overtaking the 2019 Christmas special, which drew an overnight audience of 11.9 million, Bristol Live reports.

The highly anticipated finale received impressive ratings and was praised by fans for delivering the perfect ending. Fans were delighted to see Ruth win the BAFTA for her role as Nessa.
However, her acceptance speech left viewers all saying the same thing, sparking a discussion about one of her co-stars.
Article continues belowShe said: "I really wasn't expecting to win this. So, I want to thank the wonderful, gorgeous cast, many of whom are here tonight and have just been so lovely to work with over the years."
"And especially to our director, Christine Gernon, who's directed every single episode."

The actress also gave a shout out to the "unsung heroes" from the crew and production, as well as the BBC. Although it was her comments about co-star and co-writer James Corden that got viewers talking.
"But the person I would like to thank the most is my dear, dear, talented, lovely, kind, funny friend, James Corden." The camera panned to James wiping a tear from his eye, as Ruth continued: "With whom I have shared this astonishing journey for the past 17 years and without whom Nessa Shanessa Jenkins would simply not exist."
"I love you James. I love writing with you. Long may it continue."

Viewers were quick to take to social media, comparing Ruth's comments with speculations about James and his personality and behaviour over the years. James had previously been labelled "rude" which resulted in him apologising on his American talk show, The Late Late Show with James Corden.
The TV personality addressed an incident in a restaurant, telling the audience: "The truth is I have made a rude, rude comment. And it was wrong. It was an unnecessary comment, it was ungracious to the server."

Ruth's heartwarming comments towards James made viewers question if this rumoured "rude" persona of the star were as true as people claimed.
One user commented under a video of the speech, saying: ""If Ruth Jones can say that about James Corden, then I know all the crap that's said about him is rubbish."
As one viewer replied: "I thought exactly the same."

While other fans were quick to share their positive experiences meeting James, as a third user said: "I met James Corden at a West End show in February. He was so sweet & we had a lovely chat."
"I met him and Ruth around season 2 of Gavin and Stacey and they were both honestly lovely people. James was so engaging and genuinely funny," a forth said.
