Beloved reality TV star dies at 33 after battle with pancreatitis
"Floribama Shore" star Kirk Medas died Friday at 33 after battling necrotizing pancreatitis. He had been on a ventilator in the ICU for two weeks before he died.

Kirk Medas, who starred in MTVâs âFloribama Shore,â died Friday, the show shared on its Instagram page. He was 33.
âWe are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of the Floribama Shore family,â the Instagram post said. âOur hearts go out to his family, friends and fans during this difficult time.â
People Magazine reported he was hospitalized last month with a serious case of necrotizing pancreatitis.
Aimee Hall, a fellow cast member of the show, posted on Instagram Thursday and said he had been in the ICU for the past two weeks and that he was âon a ventilator, and the situation is incredibly serious.â
âPray for his mother. Pray for his friends. And pray for his castmatesâwe are all hurting watching our brother fight this battle," Hall wrote.
Another cast member, Codi Butts, also took to social media to share words of his friend.
âI love you so much. It is with a heavy heart I have to say goodbye to my best friend. I love you so much,â he wrote. âMy heart is absolutely broken. I wish this was a bad dream that I could just wake up from. Thank you Kirk for giving me some of the best years of my life. You have made me a better person. I will forever love you and cherish our friendship!â
Necrotizing pancreatitis is a complication of acute pancreatitis where part of your pancreas dies, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Pancreatitis is defined as inflammation and swelling in your pancreas, usually due to an injury or toxins. If the inflammation is severe, it can stop the blood flow to your pancreas tissues, causing tissue death, the Clinic said.
