Chris Brown charged by police and set to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court
It follows an alleged assault in London
American singer Chris Brown is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court after being charged by police.
The 36-year-old, who rose to global fame in the 2000s with tracks like Run It and With You, was arrested at Salford's Lowry Hotel in the early hours of Thursday morning (May 15).

Officers from Greater Manchester Police arrested Brown on behalf of the Metropolitan Police, following an alleged incident in London more than two years ago.

Brown has since been charged with assault, in connection with an incident at a venue in Hannover Square.
He has been remanded in custody ahead of a court appearance in Manchester this morning (Friday).
In a statement issued overnight, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "A man has been charged following an investigation by detectives in the Metropolitan Police Service.

"Chris Brown, 36, who is a US National, was charged on Thursday, May 15 with grievous bodily harm with intent.
"He remains in custody and will appear at Manchester Magistratesâ Court at 10:00hrs on Friday, May 16.
"The charge relates to an assault, which reportedly took place at a venue in Hanover Square in London, on Sunday, February 19 2023."

A GMP spokesperson said on Thursday: "This morning (Thursday, May 15) we arrested a 36-year-old man at a hotel in Manchester on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on behalf of the Metropolitan Police."
