Dandies, divas and dramatic reveals: all the most fabulous fashion at the Met Gala 2025
Zoot suits, top hats and tails, and towering couture, who were the best dressed guests on the steps up to the Met last night?
Only the second Met exhibition ever to be dedicated to menswear, the gents were not holding back with their wardrobes. Co-chairs of the event, Lewis Hamilton and Colman Domingo, were certainly dialling up the Superfine, with Hamilton in a cream Wales Bonner suit and coordinating beret, and Domingo removing his royal blue, crystal-encrusted Valentino cape to reveal a bold-shouldered, grid-print blazer with large polka-dot floral brooch. Another historic moment came in the form of the ultimate diva, Diana Ross, who returned to the steps for the first time in 22 years, donning a voluminous feather-trimmed white gown with a lengthy trian which had to be carried in by a team of stylists.
But above all, it was a night to celebrate incredible Black designers and talent. Savile Row stalwart Ozwald Boateng arrived with his children, Emilia and Oscar, all in his own tailoring offering a gorgeous family affair of esteemed style, while Harlem couturier Dapper Dan also created his own custom look inspired by the original Zoot suits and emblazoned with the Sankofa symbol - an image that originates from the Akan people of Ghana and emphasises learning from the past to build a better future. As Colman Domingo read during his speech at a press conference earlier in the day, the playwright George C. Wolff once said ‘God created Black people, and Black people created style.’
