Rapper Doechii is facing backlash after a viral video appeared to show her shouting at assistants ahead of her Met Gala debut. The footage, widely shared on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), captured the 26-year-old instructing her team to bring more umbrellas as she attempted to exit The Mark Hotel in New York.
In the video clips, Doechii can be heard saying, âYes, Iâm ready,â followed by, âGive me another umbrella, now!â and âAnd another, go!â Her team shielded her from paparazzi using a white wardrobe screen while escorting her to a waiting sprinter van in heavy rain.
Social media users had mixed reactions to the scene. One user wrote on X, âLove Doechii but she was talking crazy to them. I would've said f*** the damn umbrellas.â Another commented, âThat's why I could never be a famous person's assistant because you aren't going to talk to me like that.â A third added, âAll that drama for an outfit that doesnât even hit, she needs to chill with the attitude.â
Others defended the rapper, citing the high-pressure nature of the Met Gala. âThe question is why is SHE micromanaging? Shouldnât there be someone paid to oversee and make sure that sheâs covered?â one supporter asked. Another posted, âQuit giving her such a hard timeâit was probably just her anxiety.â One user concluded, âItâs giving mismanagement. Someone should have made sure it was all sorted!â
For the occasion, Doechii wore a Louis Vuitton monogrammed jacket with checkered Bermuda shorts, paired with burgundy loafers, knee-high socks, and a silk scarf tied in a bow. Her look was completed with Tiffany & Co. jewelry and a Louis Vuitton stamp on her cheek. She was also seen puffing on a cigar while posing for photographs.
