Love Island star recalls moment she delivered baby sister with shoelace
The highly-anticipated twelfth season of the match-making show returns to screens in a few days
A Love Island favourite has shared a rather "unusual" tale about the time she played midwife to her own baby sister, using nothing but a shoelace.
As we eagerly await the twelfth season of the hit dating show, set to return to our screens this month, host Maya Jama is ready to stir things up with more surprises in store for viewers and contestants alike.
The upcoming series promises a diverse line-up of love-seeking singles, all prepped to heat up our summer nights starting Monday, June 9.
In a juicy tidbit ahead of the new season, one Glasgow-born islander opened up about an extraordinary personal experience. Alima found herself assisting in the delivery of her sibling at home, armed with just a shoelace when her mum went into sudden labour.

Recounting the event, the 23-year-old explained: "Something unusual that happened was when I helped my mum give birth to my little sister at home. I was busy writing an essay for university when my mum went into labour."
She continued, detailing the whirlwind experience: "I called an ambulance and a woman on the phone told me what to do. I'd say it was only a 15 minute labour."

With quick thinking, she prepared hot towels and a shoelace to tie off the umbilical cord. The incident even led to a misunderstanding with her lecturer, who doubted her story when she missed her essay deadline, jokingly suggesting there were simpler ways to ask for an extension.
"I gathered hot towels and a shoelace for the umbilical cord. I told my lecturer what happened because I couldnāt submit my essay and he thought I was lying. He said there were easier ways to get an extension," she recounted.
Alima, a wealth management client services executive from Glasgow, is on a quest to find her very own "Disney prince."

She describes her dream man as: "A tall man with a handsome face. You know when you just look at a guy and they have that Disney prince look to them? That's it."
She also has a unique way of screening potential dates, saying: "I always ask guys on a night out to guess which country I'm originally from. If they get it right, they can get my number.Ā
"But they never guess correctly so it works really well if you don't want to give a guy your number. I'm originally from Guinea Bissau. If they're close and I really fancy them, I'll give them my number anyway."
